@FoodBevCanada was pleased to join a roundtable with Ministers @DLeBlancNB, @CornwallHeath, @Joanne_NL & Janice Charette to discuss CUSMA + agri-food challenges. North America’s food supply chain is deeply interconnected - predictable market access is critical to competitiveness.
Dominic LeBlanc@DLeBlancNB

𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗳𝘀: 𝗢𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 🎙️The Food and Beverage Processor Forum 🎧 …andbeverageprocessorforum.podbean.com/e/talking-tari… What's the state of play on #CUSMA? For the latest episode of FBO's podcast, Chris Conway is back from his trip to Washington, where he joined an Ontario Chamber of Commerce trade delegation meeting with U.S. senators from both parties, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, industry representatives, and Canada's new ambassador to the United States, Mark Wiseman. The delegation visited Washington to advance core priorities critical to industry and the preservation of our shared tri-lateral trade agreement. Stable, reliable, rules-based trade is deeply integrated into the North American economy. In the midst of per-negotiations for the July 1 CUSMA review, leaders from the Ontario government and critical sectors such as energy, life sciences, manufacturing, agriculture, and forestry, held discussions focused on safeguarding supply chains, protecting jobs, and ensuring CUSMA continues to deliver prosperity across borders. In this episode, Chris walks us through what he heard on the ground. We talk about where CUSMA negotiations stand ahead of review, the potential scenarios to come from a new agreement, lingering pressures from Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum, how processors can get engaged through FBO's advocacy work, and more. #FoodAndBeverageProcessorForum #Podcast #Manufacturing #FoodManufacturing #Ontario

FBO's CEO, Chris Conway, was pleased to attend the Grow Ontario Food Summit this Tuesday, where he had the opportunity to speak with Minister @TrevorJonesCKL as well as numerous industry colleagues and officials from the ministry of @AgricultureON. Processors were well represented at the event, with FBO and FBO Board members providing input during the Next Policy Framework session related to the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership. Additionally, @FoodBevCanada's CEO @krisprou provided insight as a panelist on the Unlocking New Agri-Food Markets for Ontario session. We look forward to continuing to work with Minister Trevor Jones, OMAFA officials, FBC and other industry partners on issues of mutual interest. #OntAg

Pleasure to speak @CFIN_RCIA about innovation challenges facing food & bev. Despite being Cdn's largest manufacturing sector, industry remains critically unsupported. Businesses need long-term confidence that Cdn is competitive - for plants, people, productivity, & investment.

FBO was pleased to join our colleagues at @FoodBevCanada in Ottawa last week for our national meetings. We discussed issues of importance to the sector and met with senior government officials including MP @KodyBloisNS, the Parliamentary Secretary to Prime Minister Mark Carney. Thank you for our FBC colleagues and FBC CEO @krisprou for very productive meetings. FBO Board Chair Michael Burrows and CEO Chris Conway, were also pleased to join Emily Nanne and her colleagues at the National Circle for Indigenous Agriculture & Food (NCIAF) luncheon. Emily and @NCIAF_Canada are partnered with FBO on the CareersNOW! program. FBC's policy breakfast featured a panel hosted by @VassyKapelos with Nicolas Mulroney, Co-Founder of Bond Bakery Brands, former MP and AAFC Parliamentary Secretary @Francis_Drouin and Hugo Boisvert, CEO Nortera. We also attended the @FCCagriculture Future of Food Conference. A particularly insightful session featured Dr. Lenore Newman of the University of the Fraser Valley in conversation with former Canadian Ambassador to China, Dominic Barton. Barton provided an update on his 2017 report "Unleashing the Growth Potential of Key Sectors" which identified agri-food as one of Canada's top growth opportunities. The discussion emphasized the global opportunities for our country and was a call to action.
