Did you know Blastoise wasn’t originally Squirtle’s final evolution? • Have you ever noticed how weirdly different Blastoise looks from Squirtle and Wartortle? The sleek cannon-toting tank completely breaks the fluffy-eared, swirling-tail family theme. • In early Red & Blue development, Wartortle was supposed to evolve into a much more graceful sea-turtle that perfectly continued its design. • The tiny pixel sprite in the bottom right is an official pixel sprite for the original games. That was the real planned evolution. • The big artwork is a non-official image showing how majestic that scrapped Pokémon could have looked. Fans even nicknamed it “Totartle,” but that name was never used by Game Freak. Game Freak scrapped the entire elegant wave-turtle design at the last minute and swapped in Blastoise because they wanted something more “epic” for a starter final form. The ultimate starter swap… and it happened right at the start of the franchise. Was this the right call, or would you have preferred the original scrapped evolution?

@FoodSandwich they literally have everyone else from the main cast in that show. and i think having a whole new character that no one ever mentions in the later seasons creates enough plot holes as it is

@castle___byers do u want an actual answer for this? I think it's because Andy is 1/2 years older to them so he has already graduated. They wanted to show the Jocks from s4 gang to justify Dustin's speech of the 'school making friends with eachother', and that meant chance being the only option
