@ChicagosMayor Give it a rest Mayor BJ you hate the CPD and do nothing to protect them. These children are ruining our city and you are doing nothing to prevent it. Please resign.

Unauthorized large gatherings can quickly become dangerous, and early this morning, after curfew hours, we saw that firsthand. I am grateful to the officers who responded diligently to help keep people safe and relieved that the officers who were injured are in fair condition. I continue to call on parents and guardians to know where their children are and to help ensure they are safe and accounted for. There also must be accountability for the individuals who participated in the violent and reckless behavior. My administration is creating opportunities and safe spaces for young people, but families, communities, and city leaders all have a role to play in keeping our young people safe.

@RaymondALopez @ChiPubSchool @ChicagoOIG Why aren’t CPS employees responsible for the city debt like CFD or CPD? I believe if they don’t pay they get disciplined. What is good for one set of city employees should be good for all of them. This needs some investigating.

Today the Finance Committee was asked to give $5M in TIF funding to @ChiPubSchool. CPS, per the @ChicagoOIG, has 5,413 employees owing the City over $4M in debt. While making some headway, CPS needs to get all their employees on board paying what they owe - as required by law!

@educator4ever36 They know exactly what to do. The last contract bankrupted CPS. Sad many people will lose their jobs.

@FoolForTheCity2 @ChicagoContrar1 I took two sick days and my three personal days that I use or lose and one religious holiday. Most suburbs get 15 days a year and I get 13. I used 5 days against my 13.

Here is a shock: CPS is in session tomorrow, but there is a teen takeover near 56th and Lake Shore Drive tonight. CPD is on scene.

@PaulVallas Teacher attendance is embarrassing. They take off all the time and don’t think twice about it. So many take days off for virtual doctor appointments it is embarrassing. They make lots of money to do nothing.

Gov. JB Pritzker’s solution to avoid embarrassment and escape accountability is to just change the metrics. Pritzker’s State Board of Education’s response to the abysmal test scores was to boost them by lowering state proficiency rates. Embarrassed by poor student attendance, they stopped factoring it into school ratings. For Pritzker, this is solving the problem. Chicago Public Schools should be delighted. Both Chicago student and teacher “chronic absenteeism” rates are over 40%. In a clear sign of school failure, Chicago’s high school students’ chronic absenteeism rate grows from 43% for freshmen to ~72% for seniors.

@RaymondALopez Considering the neighborhood they live in I’m not surprised by the response. Edgewater/Andersonville has become one of the worst places in city to live with so many socialists. Their alderpeson is awful. But above all what happened to common decency from people.

@fox32news Now he has something to say. Sheridan’s blood is on Pritzker, Johnson and all of the other woke Democrats. Please remember all of this when it comes time to vote.

May Day didn’t hit like they thought. Chicago wasn’t feeling it. The city is waking up… and CFR is keeping the pressure on them to save our city. Chicago is waking up. We’re not playing anymore. We’re not going to allow our communities, our city, our state, or our country to be taken over by Anti-American communist, foreign invaders sponsored by the Democratic Party, and Chicago Teachers Union @CTULocal1 . It ends now. Chicagoans, Americans, we are rising up. We are standing together and saying: no more. WE SAY NO TO MAY DAY PROTEST Never Forget — May 1, 2026 Danielle Carter-Walters for Mayor 2027 #daniellecarterwaltersformayor2027 #commonsensecarter #thejusticeleague

@WGNNews Please someone in the media contact CPS to see how many students actually attended school today. My senior tried to tell Me that there was no school today because one of her teachers gave her the day off. I’m sure this happened all over the city.

Hey, @ChicagosMayor: You going to address this? Some idiot is harassing CPD, and he threatens to physically assault officers. If this moron was tormenting a peacekeeper, you'd be hyperventilating about how residents need to respect peacekeepers' authority. Video: @chiccrimechase.

Only 27% of Chicago Public Schools students are at grade level in math, and yet the Chicago Teachers Union's big priority was getting May 1 off for a political rally. @ChiPubSchools rejected @CTULocal1's demand to close schools, but they did reach a compromise: 100 schools will bus students to a political protest in the afternoon as an excused "field trip." Parents didn't even know if school would be open until days beforehand. Meanwhile, 40% of CPS students are chronically absent, enrollment dropped by 9,000 kids in a single year, and over 43% of CPS teachers missed 10 or more school days last year—the highest rate in a decade. But yes, let's organize yet another day out of the classroom. It simply must be a coincidence that only 27% of Chicago voters view CTU favorably, according to recent polling, which is a record low for them. More than half actively dislike the union. And now parents are lawyering up! When the union's own members can't even see its financial audits without suing, and half its endorsed candidates just lost their primaries, maybe it's actually time to ask who exactly CTU is fighting for. Clearly it is not the students or their families or really even their members.

@educator4ever36 Thank you Dr King for really putting the students first and telling CTU to sit down. Yes they just wanted another day off - CTU is awful. Believe you me no teacher will be doing double work - they barely work at all as it is.

May Day is necessary because working people, students, and our communities are under attack. CTU Executive Board Member Bridget Doherty says May 1 is International Workers Day and in 2026, it’s global day of action. This is an opportunity to open up the classroom and take to the streets, a real demonstration of civic education in action. Get involved at ChicagoMayDay.org
