🇮🇳India will make their 10th appearance in the AFC Women's Asian Cup in 2026, marking history as India qualifies for the 12-team event in this format for the first time! Some of the players have been playing in top-tier leagues abroad, let's take a look at some of them: Thread🧵

Assam has lost a legend. Gilbertson Sangma, one of the finest footballers to grace the field, gave the game moments that outlived the final whistle and a legacy that time cannot touch. He was not just a player, but a golden chapter in the story of football. An inspiration for generations to come. The people of the State and Assam Police will always cherish his legacy & memory.

Both of Minerva Academy's group stage opponents - 🇨🇦Santa Ana and 🇪🇸Kaptiva Sports Academy made it to the consolation round Final (for all teams finishing 3rd and 4th in group), which means they were two of the strongest teams to miss out the knockout stage.

UE Figueres is a decent catalan team as they have reached the semifinals / finals in previous editions. Even then, this was a game that could have gone either way. Minerva matched them. If this team returns next year in U16, there’s no doubt they’ll come back even stronger. (3/3)

Tournaments like MIC are all about exposure, growth, and learning. Matches like these, played at such intensity, will only make this group stronger. Experiences like this shape players, and can motivate upcoming gen. Sometimes, we don’t lose, we learn.(2/3)

Minerva Academy FC’s 🇮🇳 MIC 2026 journey ends with a narrow 1-2 loss to UE Figueres in QuarterFinals, decided by a last minute penalty, the team showed great character, composure and fluid combinations that truly reflected the quality I often see in Spanish youth setups. (1/3)

@barcanation6 @THE_RanjitBajaj Exactly, it's meaningless to attempt to organize, let's say a U13 youth league where Real Kashmir FC has to travel on an awayday to Kerala to play KBFC. Instead they should focus more on increasing number of matches per zone to atleast 30-35 per club.

@FootbalIndiaFan @THE_RanjitBajaj we need at least 20 such teams like minerva in every state, followed by following a league based competition then a national type tournament, this country so big, then frequent tournaments, inviting clubs from outside and among us, that's how qatar and saudi are growing

Liverpool U15 0-6 Minerva Academy FC 🇮🇳 One to remember fs, the hype created by micfootballcup account before this match turns out to be too good. Well done boys and @THE_RanjitBajaj

@barcanation6 @THE_RanjitBajaj The lack of accountability in Indian football administration has lead to this stagnant period of zero development. There's no intent to move forward while even our SAFF neighbours are overtaking us rapidly. Clubs like Minerva are on their own, without federation support.

@FootbalIndiaFan @THE_RanjitBajaj there is no structure, we lose to neighbors, can't compete against lower rank teams, roadmap starts from age 5-6, youth is a long road to nurture, i have seen teams coming from outside in tournaments and lose by 25 gols still they invest so that they can understand what's lacking

@barcanation6 @THE_RanjitBajaj Personally I don't think any other sport is to be blamed for the mess Indian football is in right now, rather those in charge of Indian football are the ones responsible. The amount of mismanagement at grassroots level is infuriating to see, from youth leagues to junior NTs.

@barcanation6 @THE_RanjitBajaj since they are unable to scout properly from such a short span youth league at u13, u15 and U18 categories. Youth coaching is another weak point in Indian football, we are severely lacking professional coaches who can develop future professionals in the sport.

@barcanation6 @THE_RanjitBajaj Youth Leagues in Indian football are organized haphazardly, hardly lasting 3-4 months (hosted during peak summer) and the clubs mostly play 9-10 matches on average per season ( even less if eliminated in qualifiers). Youth NT player selection only from handful academies... 1/n

@barcanation6 @THE_RanjitBajaj I see, the Spanish youth football system is evidently well-structured as compared to ours. The league structure promotes overall development of these players and the quality gap between their academy teams is quite less as compared to us.

@FootbalIndiaFan @THE_RanjitBajaj CF Damm, UE Cornella, Sant Cugat. Sant Andreu are also there, Gimnastic Tarragona, Sabadell, few from Aragon region like Real Zaragoza, others are are better as they are famous because of their first team like Espanyol and Betis
