I stayed up to watch the game and when the goal was scored I immediately thought it was offside. It's impossible to prove but I think if there's no VAR at all at the world cup the linesman just flags it offside anyway. Looked miles offside and looked like a flick on in real time

I find the outrage and lack of understanding surrounding Croatia's disallowed goal from last night laughable. They've introduced technology that allows officials to determine if the ball is touched. To suggest that technology should be ignored is insane.

@TheMasterBucks They've literally jammed the ball full of sensors. To the naked eye there's no touch but there clearly was when looking at the sensor. The ref and var can't just ignore the evidence. I'm gutted, Croatia deserved more but there's no foul play.

That Croatia goal being ruled offside is way worse than anything the Ronaldo fans accused FIFA of doing for Argentina and Messi 4 years ago. It's clear and obvious people..... FIFA have actually rigged this World Cup for Portugal.

@SkySports_Keith Too cheap. Fernandes has gone for £85 million and he's not even a regular international player. Tonali is Italy's superstar. Had to be over £100 million

💰 The deal nets Newcastle United £92.5m up-front with £7.5m in achievable add-ons. 🏙️The lure of London, a huge pay increase and compatriot Roberto De Zerbi has been too much for Italian Tonali to ignore… #NUFC #THFC
Keith Downie@SkySports_Keith

🚨 Newcastle reach agreement with Tottenham to sell Sandro Tonali for a total package of £100m. 🤝 Newcastle have shaken hands on the deal tonight and feel that it’s a strong fee, with very achievable add-ons. They are very likely to achieve the full £100m. ⬆️ The feeling is this will enable the club to strengthen with high potential in more than one position. 💴 #NUFC’s biggest sale ever, behind the £125m they took for Alexander Isak. #THFC

@LukeEdwardsTele No poorer than anyone else and he was our most dangerous player at the point when he was subbed off.

Anthony Gordon is surely at risk of being dropped for the next game btw. Really poor tonight.

England too slow, too cautious and too unimaginative. The midfield three barely made a forward pass with the pace to break the lines. The wingers barely managed to beat their full back. Huge chance missed by Kane late on but that was a dreary display reminiscent of so many other tournament performances against a defensive side. Point is ok though in terms of topping the group but these rehydration breaks really benefit a team looking to defend. Nice little breather when they’ve had to chase the ball. Not sure they do much for an attacking team building momentum #england

Predictable overly negative reaction to a frustrating England draw tonight. Ghana came for a point and put in an impressively disciplined defensive performance. England should have won tonight, Kane should bury his late chance, and they will still win the group. Everyone relax

Sandro Tonali to Spurs stinks of a transfer hijack. I can’t understand the logic. The talk since the turn of the year - even from his agent - has been Arsenal and Man City. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is tactical from Tonali’s camp to force a bigger club to the table. #NUFC

@TheAthleticFC He should be banned from taking penalties ever again. I witnessed the worst penalty I've ever seen last year when Palace came to St James' Park. His one in the champions league final was almost as bad

Eberechi Eze would have no qualms about taking a penalty for England at the World Cup. The Arsenal midfielder missed from the spot when his team lost the shootout to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest last month. But Eze said that he was “grateful” for the experience of missing, that he is going to “grow” and “learn” from it, and that if he was called upon by Thomas Tuchel to take another there is no reason for him to say no. @LukeEdwardsTele The idea that going to Man U would help get him called up is proposterous. 3 Newcastle players were called up (one since departed) only 1 Man U (Rashford earned his call up in Barcelona)

Why take Livramento and play him left back when you could have simply taken Lewis Hall? #NUFC

@ToonPolls I think the opposite. Not in the shop window. Additionally I don't think Hall is a likely summer departure anyway. No real demand for left backs other than Man U and can't see him going there when they need to spread their spending

Lewis Hall failing to make the England World Cup squad is crazy to me. Sadly, I also think it makes him leaving much more likely. #NUFC

Based on our recent performances I'm not sure that Howe is. There's a lot more to dissect from that performance but that's too much to go into for now. We're crawling towards the finish line of a grueling season.

I fear that may be the final nail in the coffin for Eddie Howe. He'll get the rest of the season but with such an important summer ahead you need to be confident that the manager you are spending millions on is the right man to use those players. #NUFC #NEWBOU

@FabrizioRomano Me too. Barcelona got away with murder in the first leg against Newcastle yet somehow escaped without appropriate punishment from the ref

As a result, we threw away yet another lead and a valuable three points as Howe edges ever closer to a summer departure.

With Palace bringing their better players off the bench as they grew more desperate to get back in the game. We were always likely to need to use our bench, but for some reason Howe saw fit not to do this.

Another pathetic capitulation from Newcastle United from a winning position. I love Eddie Howe, and what is achieved at the club has been magnificent but the blame here lies squarely at his feet. #NUFC #CRYNEW
