Earlier today I shared a personal piece about why Geeta Dutt remains my number one female playback singer above both Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar.
A Punjabi placing a Bengali singer at the top is perhaps unusual, but her voice always did something to me that no other singer could.
So, today's question is simple.

Of late I have been asking here on Twitter about musical choices related to singers from the bygone era like Hemant Kumar, Talat Mahmood and others. The purpose honestly is not only music, but also understanding people a little better through their musical taste. Music, and to a slightly lesser degree food, are perhaps the two things which connect Indians emotionally across regions, language, caste and community, Bengali, Punjabi, South Indian, Christian, Brahmin, everybody somewhere meets through these shared memories. “Loving someone but not choosing them” isn’t love to me at all. I don’t believe you can genuinely love someone while continuously lacking the capacity to show up for them properly. Real love should naturally produce care, consideration, effort and emotional security.

There's nothing louder than the silence between two people who love each other, but ended things because one of them didn't have the capacity to choose the other. So the other had to choose themselves, even though they didn't want to leave.
