While I do believe the heteronormative reading of the weird route does make a lot of sense I honestly feel like there are multiple readings that also make sense, the weird route feels written to accommodate the different readings without leaning into a specific one to much - 🎄

this is no hate at all but why do u guys think chapter 5 just completely immediately erases any subtext that was made abt the weird route forcing kris and noelle into hetero normative roles

@FoppyP38300 @Luffgod5 Well, that's possible. Though I think it places even more strength to my point, Noelle has the idea but keeps depending on a "man" to do what she wants to, because by herself she isn't powerful enough.

I know a lot of oomfs love but I, especially now, dislike and don’t see the whole “weird route puts Kris and Noelle into heteronormative positions!” Thing Noelle grows more Independent, she still likes Susie, and it’s her changing to stop living a dull life, I don’t see at all

@Luffgod5 We’re still obviously using Noelle, but in a weird twist of fate I feel as if she’s beginning to use US as well. Yes, we have the power to shut it all down, but to actually continue the route? I feel as if we’re gonna have to comply with whatever insane idea she comes up with.

@fishinaballoon @Luffgod5 Sorta. I think Noelle onwards will be the one to come up with major plans, but she needs to use the player to execute them, and we need to use her to come up with more “crazy” plans to further break the game, her being someone obsessed with glitches.

@Luffgod5 noelle’s independence in the chapter 5 weird route is still dependence, its just her being the one to initiate it. she basically tells kris “if YOU tell me to do something, i can do anything.” i can understand not seeing the heteronormative metaphor, but this doesnt make sense

@Klein_Ebene @Luffgod5 I think it’s a bit….complicated. We still have a *lot* of control, as in we could end the route by just quitting the game, but I genuinely think whatever the fuck we did in ch 5 WR is something the player could not do on their own. 1/2

@Angelobeta99 @Luffgod5 She’s reliant on us, true, but it was still her idea entirely to go and do the lake skip. The player didn’t make Noelle come up with that. After experimenting with the way we work in chapter 4 (mind reading) I think she applied that knowledge in chapter 5 WR to break the game.

@chumbosity @Nemiitix Noelle has dialogue in the code for items and shit that can only be found past chapter 2, and the descriptions make it seem like both Ralsei AND Susie are absent, which makes me think we might have another chapter 2 like section where it’s just Kris and Noelle

@Nemiitix tbh i think this was just intended to be foreshadowing that Ralsei can use fire magic, as by this point in the chapter they had already left the party thanks to Susie

Ralsei is deadass gonna up and leave us at some point, probably during something extremely important as well Mage who uses fire fucks off in Noelle's game. Ralsei was recently revealed to be capable of using some sort of fire magic. (🧵)

@Man0fStar @cerkeilon Okay, to be fair Noelle snapping that quickly on the weird route is definitely because even before the player started messing with her, she was definitely NOT mentally well. She was already standing very close to the edge of a cliff internally.

@cerkeilon And the odd part is that it FEELS like it takes place over multiple weeks when you play but no the world's ending in a week, Noelle & Susie somehow become a couple in 4 days, Noelle goes from "didja lose your pen again* to psychosis in 72 hours in WR Should've been like P4 tbh

This might be a hot take, but I feel like Toby Fox shot himself in the foot by having this whole story take place over the course of a single weekend; a lot of the relationships in the game would make a lot more sense if there were time skips involved.
