In honor of the 5-year anniversary of the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, ICYMI, here’s the insider recap we reported on the SnyderVerse possibly coming back: • Our insiders said the SnyderVerse was in “full play” for a return, not just as an Elseworlds project, but as an actual continuation of Zack Snyder’s DC universe, especially at Paramount. • The same source previously nailed the Daredevil: Born Again retooling months before The Hollywood Reporter confirmed it. • We were told if Warner Bros. Discovery gets sold, James Gunn would be out as head of DC Studios. • Christopher Nolan was said to be part of the plan as an executive producer if Snyder returned. • The reported goal was not a one-off movie, but restoring Snyder’s DC arc in a real way. • That would potentially open the door for Henry Cavill returning as Superman, Ben Affleck returning as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and more. • Gal Gadot’s SnyderVerse support and Snyder’s social media activity were seen as signs momentum was building, along with Joe Manganiello. • Our reporting said Saudi Arabia was the frontrunner to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. • Zack Snyder already has ties to Saudi Arabia through Brawler, his UFC project backed by the kingdom’s General Entertainment Authority. • We were told the Saudis want major entertainment assets, franchise power, and theme park IP, which makes DC a huge target. • A restored SnyderVerse was said to fit directly into that bigger franchise strategy. • Producer Patrick Caligiuri was also cited as saying the Saudi/WBD deal was close and potentially “one signature away.” • Our later updates added that the Saudis wanted a Marvel-sized SnyderVerse event and that Cavill was back in the mix, with Affleck possibly involved too. • We're told Zack is "gung ho" about not only finishing his Justice League sequels but also adapting The Dark Knight Returns.

Sometimes an image stays with you for years. When the first photo of Henry Cavill as Superman was released, it instantly felt iconic — Superman emerging from the vault, calm, powerful, unstoppable. While working on this Absolute Superman piece, I couldn’t resist paying homage to that image. It’s my interpretation of that moment, pushing the energy and intensity a bit further.
