Not only that, but the diversity and representation within the show is fantastic-- something that Star Trek has ALWAYS championed. Several other series have similarly had rocky starts, but I'm genuinely interested in seeing where this series goes!

Hear me out... Starfleet Academy is actually pretty good. While the whole school trope tends to be overdone, there's a lot of solid characters on the show, and as someone who laments the failures of the American school system, it's refreshing to see Cpt. Ake's newfangled methods.
