Senator Josh Kimbrell, who suspended his campaign today for SC GOP candidate for governor has just endorsed @AGAlanWilson. Candidates @NancyMace & @RalphNorman, who are WAY BEHIND in the polls & betting odds need to do the same thing so Wilson can consolidate votes over Evette.

💥Wholly crap! 💥Pamela Evette wannabe govenor in South Carolina CAUGHT red-handed paying a pollster $32,575.80 in three “text messaging” checks days before they dropped a “totally independent, radically transparent, not-sponsored” poll crowning her the leader by 1%. Her own campaign’s finance reports don’t lie, but her “independent” poll does. It’s pay-to-play poll padding. South Carolinians deserve better than bought-and-paid-for numbers from a Lt. Gov. who can’t even be honest about who’s funding her “surge.” The scandal in the South Carolina Republican gubernatorial primary (to replace term-limited Gov. Henry McMaster). Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette who's running in a crowded GOP field that includes Rep. Nancy Mace, Rom Reddy, AG Alan Wilson, and Ralph Norman, had her campaign disclose payments totaling exactly $32,575.80 to the polling firm Co. The payments broke down as: 💥$11,567.20 on Sept. 15, 2025 💥$10,687.70 on Sept. 15, 2025 💥$10,320.90 on Sept. 18, 2025 All were labeled "text messaging" (not polling or survey research) and came just days before Company publicly released a poll on Sept. 21, 2025, showing Evette surging to 18%, trailing Nancy Mace by just 1 point (19%) and ahead of Wilson (16%). The firm explicitly claimed the survey was "not sponsored by any candidate or candidate’s committee" and touted "radical transparency," while their pollster highlighted Evette’s "largest gain" and favorable trajectory. Campaign finance records (public and reviewed by FITSNews) showed the expenses weren’t even reported until weeks later. Evette’s actual pollster of record was Fabrizio Lee & Associates (paid $61k+ earlier for real survey work), so this wasn’t disclosed internal polling, it looked like an independent poll that just happened to drop right after she cut the checks. FITSNews broke it on March 29, 2026 (right before filing deadline), and Nancy Mace’s team amplified it the next day. Evette’s campaign and the firm have not issued any public rebuttal or explanation in the coverage. (Note: Co/efficient has released other polls later in the cycle that also looked good for her; some online chatter accuses her of similar arrangements with Trafalgar Group. It’s not illegal for campaigns to pay pollsters, but the timing, the "text messaging" label, the "independent / not sponsored" claim, and the suspiciously favorable results right afterward make it look like classic pay-to-play polling theater, buying yourself a lead in a public poll while pretending it’s neutral. Opponents called it out as embarrassing and corrupt.
