This system is designed to host orbital data centers to support the increasing demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing. By placing compute infrastructure in space, Blue Origin aims to provide a sustainable alternative to terrestrial data centers that face physical scaling limits. The proposed constellation includes up to 51,600 satellites operating in sun-synchronous orbits at altitudes ranging from 500 to 1,800 kilometers. To manage data traffic, the system will primarily use optical links and mesh backhaul networks, supplemented by Ka-band spectrum for telemetry, tracking, and command operations. 🚨🚨 Blue Origin - FCC Docket 1083-EX-CN-2025 Blue Origin Manufacturing, LLC has been granted an experimental radio station license by the FCC to operate under call sign WQ2XCS. This authorization, effective until November 2027, permits the company to use various radio frequencies for ground-to-ground testing across several sites in Cape Canaveral and Merritt Island, Florida, as well as on mobile support vessels in the Atlantic Ocean. The technical parameters include multiple frequency bands such as 455.5 MHz, 2227.5 MHz, and 2383.5 MHz, with power levels reaching up to 618 watts. A central requirement of this license is that it be used exclusively for ground-based testing. Actual launch operations are strictly prohibited under these specific terms. Regulatory approval is contingent upon extensive coordination with several agencies, including the Department of Defense and NASA. 위성 직접연결 통신이, WRC-27을 앞둔, ITU의 주요한 의제가 되고 있네요. 그동안 가능성은 있지만, 먼 이야기라고 생각했던 사업이 점점 현실이 되고 있는 것이겠죠. 스페이스X와 와플회사, 모두 각자 특화된 부문에서 시장포션을 쟁취할 것으로 보이는데, 누가 더 대중에게 매력적인 서비스를 제공할 수 있을지가 궁금해 지는군요. 2026년은 '할 수 있다' 말고, '된다, 좋다, 한다'의 해가 되어야 할 겁니다. itu.int/space-connect/
