Abolish the disgusting lanyards immediately. Other legislatures don’t do this. (The U.S. Congress has elegant pins, for instance). Their imposition is a bureaucratic insult to the House, most especially on the Lord Speaker. The fight against lanyardism must start at the top!

Let's play along: Who is going to assess whether a Palestinian state has indeed been demilitarized, which Carney says is a condition of recognition? What happens if, and when, Hamas refuses to cede power? What happens if there is no election in 2026?

I initially had concerns about this, but it’s good that Canada’s recognition is conditional.
The PA must follow through on 3 things:
- governance reforms
- elections without Hamas
- demilitarization
If all 3 happen, I support recognizing Palestine as a step toward peace.

As a female I no longer feel safe taking public transit or going for night time runs or walks. A few days ago I was groped by two men outside of the Eaton center and managed to run off (I am almost 6 feet). It was daylight and many people were around. It was scary.

Ezekiel was born in Trois-Rivieres on May 15, 1770. In 1807, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada, becoming the first Jewish man elected to it.
