Today is the 10-year anniversary of the passing of Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel (September 30, 1928 - July 2, 2016). Wiesel was a longtime human rights activist and award-winning novelist who dedicated himself to Holocaust remembrance and combating all forms of hatred and bigotry. Several years before he passed away, Elie Wiesel was an honored guest of the WJC in Jerusalem. He taught us an important lesson that day: Never keep silent.

The demonstration had been authorized for months but was abruptly canceled just one day before it was scheduled to be held. The decision was later challenged in court. In its ruling, the Paris Administrative Court stated that the police ban was based on generic and insufficient grounds, while citing intelligence reports indicating that the June 20 gathering faced threats from both the Iranian regime and pro-monarchy groups.

Based on the NCRI program, after the fall of the regime, the provisional government is obliged to hold free and fair elections within six months for the formation of a Constituent Assembly and a national legislative body. Subsequently, power will be handed over to the newly elected representatives of the people, who will assume responsibility for governing the country and drafting the new constitution.
