It’s time for NFL staffs to hire skill coaches to set up drills & help players improve/acq skill. They are great at tech and scheme, S&C handles the weight room and conditioning, but there is a real void when we see this at every practice. This is time improvement could happen

That time with Olympics team that KG went at every player back to back to back to back in practice. You can run suicides / gassers all day long and it doesn’t build conditioning for in-game.. or you can use the game to condition like below & results happen

The Pirates have committed no errors today. And that's why you ignore fielding percentage at all times, ever.

We don’t do “drills” —instead, we perform “activities” that allow us to have freedom and explore our movement capabilities—physical and mental—in order to accomplish the specific goal. Activities over drills. Skill takes time. Drilling things don't last.

For the Appendix of 'Enhancing Skill in American Football' we asked a number of current & former players to share their thoughts on the ideas contained within the book. Loved to read the words from my man @Cmoe34 (Giants) about our work together over the years: "The game of football is a story of controlled chaos from the first whistle to the last. Having played in the NFL for five years, I can say with confidence that no player is ever exactly like another. Yes, there are constraints within specific schemes or responsibilities every play, but the details of how you get your responsibility accomplished can never be perfectly replicated. As athletes, we often practice to perfect our technique, yet, when game time comes, there are infinite factors that affect our ability to perceive and act. Everyone has a job but a teammate might be a step slow, or an opponent is a bit bigger and stronger. You can imagine how the problems of each position can offer so much variability. Therein lies the core of Shawn’s philosophy and these training ideas, and it is the reason I have trained with him every season I have been in the NFL. We don’t do “drills” —instead, we perform “activities” that allow us to have freedom and explore our movement capabilities—physical and mental—in order to accomplish the specific goal. Our methods emphasize “opening up our toolbox” and “falling off of the bike” that allows our mind and bodies to explore any and every position we might find ourselves in on game day. This training philosophy has positively impacted my game in countless ways, so I implore all in football to read this book with purpose and an open mind. It is game changing!"
