No need to hold your horses any longer, because our 2026 race calendar is official. So mark down the mane events (like the Wiener Dog Races on July 12 or Fort Foodie Fest on Aug. 30) and get ready to Gallop to the Good Times this summer at Fort Erie Race Track.

Thank you to everyone who made our 7th annual Wiener Dog Races such a success; from our amazing dog day volunteers to our incredible staff, the sponsors (Pet Food Outlet and Dave the Dog Man) of course, and all the dog owners for helping us entertain thousands of families; thank you, thank you, thank you.

Just a friendly reminder there is no live racing Monday or Tuesday this week, but we'll be back for more exciting thoroughbred action on Monday, July 20 for the first of our two cards next week.

🚨 RACING UPDATE 🚨 With additional investment from the Ontario government secured, Fort Erie Race Track has immediately implemented a purse increase to all races for the remainder of the 2026 season. In June, a new funding agreement brought a $35 million annual investment into Ontario’s horse racing industry, of which $10 million has been allocated to thoroughbred horse racing participants, including breeders and trainers. Fort Erie Race Track is one of only two thoroughbred tracks in the province. The additional funding will allow Fort Erie to increase purses by 15 per cent, bringing an average race card up from about $127,000 to more than $146,000.
