The Town of South Bruce Peninsula says Wiarton Willie, the famous groundhog known for predicting the arrival of spring each year on Groundhog Day, has passed away peacefully in his sleep. Willie was a well known part of the community and a highlight of the annual Wiarton Willie Festival, a tradition that has brought visitors to the town for decades. Town officials say Willie helped put Wiarton on the map and created many lasting memories for residents and visitors alike.
