@Fortunate_hm The thing to remember is… even the guy lifting the heavy stuff on those 16 hour days knows it will be bad. And they are paid way less. You can really tell what’s missing if you are paying attention. They may not trust their instincts, but many people on set know.

I did a movie called The Interview, and there’s a scene with a tiger. We couldn't afford CGI, so we had to get a real one. We found a wrangler in Calgary who was the least confidence-inspiring person ever. I asked where he got the tiger, and he said, "From a stripper. It got too big." Then we went over the script. He goes, "You're not shooting at night, are you?" I said yeah, and he goes, "Ooh... they hunt at night." Then he asked, "It won't be raining, will it?" I told him we were filming in Vancouver in the winter, so yes. He goes, "The rain really agitates them." On shoot day, the wrangler, who was supposed to be my stunt double, hadn't lost any weight. He told me, "If you don't think we're gonna match, then you'll have to do the tiger stuff." He dragged me over to meet it, and its head was the size of a table. The entire time we were shooting, I was just thinking, "I'm gonna fucking die, and it's my fault, I'm the director!"
