Great to catch-up with the Fosse Villages Neighbourhood Police Team in Sapcote Library earlier. The Blaby Police beat surgery is a great way to raise policing issues with local officers. PSCO Ryan Keane was here today along with PCSO Jack Darby who was visiting from the Kirby Muxloe area. Future events and more details can be found here: leics.police.uk/area/your-area… The next Fosse Villages beat surgery will be in Croft Pavilion on the 11th April, 5pm. @CllrMikeShirley @FosseHighcross

Earlier today I had the pleasure with @CllrMikeShirley to visit the RCC Leicestershire & Rutland 'Free Coffee Morning' event in Sharnford. These are running for six weeks, dates in the pic below for those interested in future sessions. RCC are a local charity that look to tackle rural isolation & loneliness. We are all very grateful for coming to Sharnford and I know Huncote is another village they run this event for in the afternoon. A massive thank you to Sharnford Parish Councillor, Cllr Rosemarie Simpson for reaching out to RCC and arranging these events for Sharnford. @FosseHighcross

At @BlabyDC last night, I took the opportunity to update members on our work in responding to the HNRFI proposals. As a Council we are still vehemently opposed to the Rail Hub proposals near Elmesthorpe and during our latest submission we highlighted the following points: - The Applicant had not demonstrated that the adverse landscape and visual effects had been minimized through appropriate design. - Major concerns relating to severe highways impacts to both J21 of the M1, J3 of the M69 and the revised proposals for Sapcote. In addition the revised proposals for Sapcote are simply more dangerous to drivers and pedestrians than the originally submitted proposals. - Proposals relating to the Narborough Railway Crossing are inadequate and don’t offer any improvement for those with protected characteristics of age and disability. It's time the Secretary of State for Transport Heidi Alexander makes a decision and that they side with residents and refuse this awful proposal, once and for all. #SayNoToHNRFI @FosseHighcross

𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 @FosseHighcross Even with the wet and cold weather (we did move indoors slightly near the end), we really appreciate everyone who managed to come out and chat 👏 A few of the local issues raised today: - Flooding - Housing Developments & The Push for Growth from Central Government - Tree Ownership Queries - Devolution and Local Government Reform - And More... We will look to run more Councillor Surgeries in the future and if anyone does want to be included in our monthly report, please let us know at Hello@FosseHighcross.UK Many thanks @CllrBenTaylor & @CllrMikeShirley

𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 - 𝟖 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐌𝐎, 𝐒𝐚𝐩𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐞 | 𝟐𝟒/𝟏𝟎𝟕𝟗/𝐅𝐔𝐋 I have decided to call-in the application as I believe the site is a cramped form of development, has limited parking and the attic room is of poor design. Blaby District Council has accepted this call-in, and it will now go to the Planning Committee. It’s likely the application won’t get to the Planning Committee by February, more likely March onwards. For now, please can residents feed in their comments to the Council, this can be done directly using BDC's website, link below, search for 24/1079/FUL and you'll see an option to 'Make a comment'. pa.blaby.gov.uk/online-applica… @FosseHighcross

𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐍𝐑𝐅𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬 🚨 We have always said this scheme would destroy vast swathes of countryside and ruin the rural character of our District forever. We have also raised continual concerns about the huge negative effects it would have on our highways and motorways and the lack of measures from Tritax to overcome these. As the deadline for the decision on the HNRFI scheme approaches and with a new Secretary of State for Transport in place, we felt we should again express our grave concerns. We hope Ms Alexander takes these on board and agrees with the previous position that the scheme should be rejected. Good to meet residents this week near the Highcross monument to discuss the diseased tree on Bumblebee Lane and what can be done. Many thanks to the office of Alberto Costa for arranging this, including David Findlay and Davide Moruzzi. @CllrMikeShirley and I have further meetings with National Highways next week in which to raise the tree issue along with ongoing safety concerns regarding the Highcross and Smockington Hollow A5 Junctions. @FosseHighcross

Earlier today I spoke to a couple of residents along Chapel Lane in Sharnford, with regards to the planning application for 3 new dwelling and alterations to "The Gables". I previously called this application in to planning committee for a larger scheme that was ultimately withdrawn. It is really important residents submit their comments to @BlabyDC to make their voices heard. The consultation deadline is the 30th January 2025. The planning application and comment submission form can be found below, please search for 24/1040/FUL and the details will load up. pa.blaby.gov.uk/online-applica… @FosseHighcross

Really good to join @AlbertoCostaMP earlier this week in Parliament with @CllrMikeShirley to continue representing our residents' views at every level. The HNRFI should not go ahead, and it is great to see the planning inspector agree by recommending that the Secretary of State for Transport Louise Haigh MP should withhold consent. So much work has gone into reaching this point and I must thank @BlabyDC officers, especially from our strategic growth team, Louise Hryniw, Edward Stacey & Clementyne Murphy-Nelson. #TeamBlaby Full Video Link Below 👇 facebook.com/CllrBenTaylor/…
