@CenTXLS164 @RAF_Luton At the risk of appearing "picky" my dear @CenTXL164LS... I think you'll find that the McDonnell-Douglas F-15 Strike Eagle has a standard swept wing as opposed to the variable geometry wing found on the Grumman F-14 Tomcat! Please get your facts (and/or Grammar) correct!🤔🙄🤦🏻

@RAF_Luton That is an F-15 strike eagle (WSO in back seat like the RIO of an F14 which also has moveable wings for high-lift maneuvers) followed by an F16. The pair with canard winglets are some French concoction...

@ConstableChaos @mm0jxi However, if uncorrected eyesight falls below minimum, then maybe opticians should have a responsibility to notify DVLA, which would then put the driver on notice to wear appropriate corrective eyeware!

@mm0jxi Capacity is somewhat irrelevant as the system would need to be expanded to accommodate the extra demand. And unfortunately optician visits are not compulsory not is there any legal requirement to buy new glasses/contacts should they recommend anyway

This is a very interesting question. Leaving aside the difficulties getting a test these days, should there be some sort of refresher test ? .. maybe a theory type test every 5 years ? .. eyesight retesting ? We have to remember, a driving licence is a privilege not a right
Anon Opin.@anon_opin

You should have to retake your driving test every 10 years. Would cut bad driving habits and keep people up to date with Highway Code changes. The demand for tests would create more jobs. The inevitable number of failures would force investment in better public transport.

@ConstableChaos Don't know what's more disconcerting the order itself...or the fact (presumably) that it was filled! Who is the villan in this piece? The customer (the order is just plain wrong)!😡 Or The Van who filled the order, when the correct response is...No we don't do health food!🤔 😁😁

There's something seriously wrong with some folk round here .. Local butty van this morning: Someone orders bacon only, no sausage (just about forgivable) 😱 On brown bread 😱 Buttered 😱 No red or brown sauce 😱 Pretty sure that justifies calling in a strike aircraft 😱😱

@rorygeo Some comments mention the NDM, but what most people don't know is the "secret" career protection or 20/20 hindsight subloops that most IFCs/control room inspectors/FLMs utilise to justify their decisions or to prevaricate until someone else or events makes it for them!😡

It's April 2024. A man is walking down a street in Enfield with a knife and police are called. 🚨 A decision is taken not to deploy armed officers because it's not considered "proportionate" or "least intrusive" and it is deemed "within the capabilities of [unarmed] officers". 🧐 Two unarmed officers stop the suspect with the knife. They order him to put it down, but end up having to use a baton and PAVA. They resort to trying to tackle the suspect and one officer ends up stabbed. 🚑 The bravery of these officers doesn't just deserve recognition - it also warrants being given the training and kit to do the job. 👏 The Met's own review - below - describes the decision not to deploy armed officers as being "of real concern", with unarmed response officers describing how they don't feel supported even when there is a very real threat to their safety. 💙 How much longer will we continue to play fast and loose with officer safety and public safety? ⌛

@ConstableChaos What makes this more ridiculous is that Police Scotland had previously asked officers to submit photos which showed positive public engagement to be posted on PSOS social media 🤔 🤦🏻😡 This idiocy was done by career centered senior officers making a panicked decision!!

There is a train of thought that if you got rid of everyone above the rank of Inspector (let's face it, they do a damn good job of running the show anyway), the job would be a far better place for everyone
BettyBoo@BettyBoochichi2

Two male police officers who were branded “sexist” and suspended for taking a selfie with a female celebrity have won £50,000 in a sex discrimination case. PC Steven Jones and PC Greg Tunnock were discriminated against by police chiefs after they were punished for approaching singer Tallia Storm for a picture while on the job, a tribunal found. The pair had been on patrol together outside Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh when they spotted the 26-year-old singer by the building. One of Storm’s friends videoed the interaction, later posting it to her TikTok. A tribunal found that Scottish Police chiefs feared PC Jones and PC Tunnock “could be perceived as sexist by having a picture taken with a female celebrity” after an inspector told them in a meeting that “the matter was likely to be viewed negatively by senior management...because of the history of the department”. After the footage emerged, now-retired Assistant Chief Constable Gary Ritchie wanted to show he was taking “active steps to stamp out” sexism and made a “knee-jerk reaction” to penalise them, it was heard. The two men were suspended, had their firearms authorisation revoked and were booted out of their unit after the TikTok footage emerged. The Professional Standards Department found that the officers were guilty of “discreditable conduct”. Both officers had sickness absences and “suffered significant impact to their mental health”, it was heard. However, there was nothing in their encounter with the singer that “could reasonably be perceived as sexist or misogynistic”, the Edinburgh Employment Tribunal found. The pair have since successfully sued Police Scotland for sex discrimination, receiving a combined £50,000 in compensation. Employment Judge Amanda Jones said: ”[ACC Ritchie] took the decision based on his view that there was something sexist or misogynistic or which could appear to be sexist or misogynistic in the [officers] having their picture taken with a female celebrity. “The Tribunal came to the view that he took the decision principally on the basis of his unwarranted perception of the [officers’] conduct as male officers and that there was something inappropriate about it.” Link to the article: lbc.co.uk/article/cops-s…

Today as I was sitting in my car at a crossing, watching a pedestrian stop in the middle of said crossing to check something in their shopping bag, I was thinking about all the ways British people have to say “hurry up!” Let me know if I’ve missed any… In your own time Anytime today While we’re young Come on, I haven’t got all day Take your time Get a bloody move on Sometime this century Let’s have some urgency, shall we? Chop chop Get your skates on Don’t mind me, it’s not like I’m busy or anything

@RAF_Luton Surely bombers are just cargo aircraft that have been made, adapted or intended to drop their cargo efficiently, Or look at it this way if a cargo plane drops a cargo that happens to be a bombs is it a bomber? Or if a bomber returns with its bomb cargo is it a cargo plane?🤔😁

@RAF_Luton May I suggest that during a civil war, where everyone uses their please and thank yous, the term bombs is...well a bit bomb-y and violent. If we are indeed #BombingForPeace, then can we refer to said bombs as VIOLENCE REDUCTION MUNITIONS, which sounds less angry and war-y! 💣🤔😁
