A lobbyist for St David's (Michael Whellan) texts @CMZoQadri on the dias while discussing the ordinance for safety bollards in front of hospitals. Zo can be seen reading directly from his phone on what to say. Zo then moves to postpone the vote. Also voting to postpone, @VanessaForATX and @joseforatx after receiving phone calls from the same lobbyist who by the way donated to their campaigns. Great work here by @MattGrantKXAN for bringing the receipts.

Earlier this year, ESPN made a case for a possible MLB expansion in Austin or San Antonio after the MLB announced it was seeking to potentially expand into 32 new cities. This effort is already being spearheaded with the Austin Baseball Commission founded in early July to bring the MLB to the state's capital city. ATX MLB co-founders Derrik Fox and Matt Mackowiak told MySA in a statement that they "have been aware of the unique issues in Tampa and will explore any option for relocation." This will be one to watch. Does Garza give this violent criminal a sweetheart plea deal or let him out on bond even though he’s charged with: - 7 counts of Indecency with a Child - 3 counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, and - 1 count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. This violent criminal who already fled to Panama once has no business being free to prey on children. Will DA Garza actually prosecute this case to make sure he never has that opportunity is the real question.

@JackCraver Very interesting to see Craver steal my analysis of this with no citation. Siegel WILL bring a more confrontational style to council bc he’s very ego driven. This will put folks like @zoforaustin in a VERY difficult spot.

This means YIMBYs now hold 10 of 11 seats on Council. Perhaps more importantly, Siegel is likely to be a much bolder progressive-populist than his predecessor…more likely to push for ambitious policy Casar-style. Will he clash with Watson? We’ll see.
