Thanks to our anti-poaching operations, the use of snap traps is now decreasing everywhere … they are used mostly to target long distance insectivore migrants such as whinchats, nightingales & flycatchers. CABS teams dismantled >1100 illegal snap traps in 2023!

📍Whittle Dene Reservoir, Welton, Harlow Hill, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE18 0LH. 📸Look out for sachets/blocks of poison and dead animals. ➰The Allendale Estate also use snares and traps - keep a close eye out for these too! 📩Message HIT with any info!

TWO YEARS before HIT found illegal poison near a dead barn owl and badger at Welton, a red kite was also fatally poisoned here. Local police decided no action could be taken in 2021. No police action was taken in 2023 either. Wildlife is still not safe. Please monitor closely!
