can anyone explain to me what this subtitle is supposed to mean?

I attended a wildlife photography workshop this past weekend where the instructor was showing us how to get great photos of bears, owls, foxes, raptors, and other amazing creatures. There was one slide in particular that stuck with me. He said: “Know when to give up, but don’t quit.” I remember agreeing while still feeling a bit puzzled. After the talk, we did a guided photowalk to put some of the tips into practice. It started raining pretty hard, so we finished the photowalk after only 15 minutes. I shot 0 photos that day. I understood the situation, but it was still a bummer to shoot 0 photos on a day I had blocked off (and paid for). This morning while I was working early, a fox walked right up to my office window. I happened to have my camera on my desk, so I snapped 4 quick photos in about 8 seconds, and then he was gone. I had seen this handsome boy before roaming around in my backyard, but never this close. Know when to give up, but don’t quit.
