The reason millennials are so nostalgic is that they got a brief taste of a world that wasn’t entirely controlled by the stupidest people who’ve ever lived.

Just found out that this is neither the Build Engine (Duke 3D) nor id Tech 1 (the Doom Engine by id Software). It's the Jedi Engine developed in-house at LucasArts, and now I must scour the wikis and message boards to learn all about this engine I know nothing about!!

50 years ago on May 4, 1976, artists, technicians, and craftspeople were hard at work on two continents as Star Wars: A New Hope continued production. While George Lucas along with his cast and crew captured scenes in England, ILM's team was hastily working to establish their visual effects workflow, along with a heck of a lot of spaceship models! They were a year into their preparations, and they still had a long way to go....

Put on Ep. IV in honor of today's holiday. It's fascinating to see how/why this film started it all. It's got the one-two punch of an engaging melodrama coupled with fantastic practical effects and visuals (and sound design of course!)

In 1982, everything about EPCOT felt new, advanced, and exciting. Ben Franklin actually walking is a perfect example. Back then, The American Adventure was a premier attraction, maybe even THE premier attraction. Today, some visitors don’t even know it exists, so what happened?

I love Spaceship Earth. You walk up and see a giant sphere floating in the sky, then you remember, "hey, there's a whole ride in there!" and THEN you are welcomed onto an omnimover driving past 50+ Audio-Animatronics. That's EPCOT Center, baby.

Entertainment execs when they finally come to terms with the fact that people have returned to CRT televisions, gone back to playing VHS/DVDs/physical media, and collect hard copies of the things they purchase. It can all come crashing down if they don't survey the landscape.

I have fond memories of Disney M.G.M. Studios... it was a rather different park back then. And for some reason, our M.G.M. day was always rainy, so we wore these bad boys. The misty gray day helped sell the illusion of the faux building on the Streets of America.
