In August 2022, I came to the United States on a student visa to pursue a 5-year direct, fully funded PhD with nothing but a bag full of dreams. Recently, one of those dreams came true: I submitted a self-petition to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for permanent residency and was approved under the EB-1A Alien of Extraordinary Ability classification on my first attempt. The EB-1A green card is nicknamed the “Einstein Visa” after the renowned scientist Albert Einstein, due to its exceptionally high standards. It is reserved for individuals with “EXTRAORDINARY ABILITY” in their field. To qualify for the EB-1A, evidence of sustained national and international acclaim is required. With this, my wife and I will be permanent residents, and someday, citizens of the United States of America. The truth is, it took a village, and I’m grateful to God and everyone He used to make this happen. And now that this is off my checklist, let’s get this PhD over with. It’s dissertation and publication o’clock! God bless the United States of America🇺🇸
