"I have been told that Billy Donovan will not entertain a conversation with UNC until after the Chicago Bulls season is over... I would expect names like Texas Tech's Grant McCasland, Vanderbilt's Mark Byington, and also Iowa's Ben McCollum to be on (UNC's) list." - @JonRothstein

Payton Wilson primarily plays in sub packages only now, but this is why. Sells that he’s out covering the back, steps in front of Jones’ ball. #Steelers

What I am about to write about my profession is in light of my 31 year career and after having appeared in dozens of courtrooms winning jury trials, hearings, having rights restored for those unlawfully deprived of them, recovering $20+ million for victims of crimes and wrongdoing, and representing over 10,000 clients in front of countless judges. I hold a license to practice law everywhere in NC, and in the US District Court for the Eastern Dist. of NC, the US Court of Appeals for the 4th circuit, and the @USSupremeCourt Over the last few months, ‘legal’ organizations such as the @ABAesq , @NCBAorg and others, have issued statements about the “Rule of Law” being under attack or that they “support an independent judiciary” and that @POTUS and his administration is “attacking the very foundation of our democracy.” Earlier today, the @NCAJ_ came close to issuing a similar statement but wisely, IMHO, declined to do so. As I have watched this all unfold I have not had much to say about it, opting instead to go on about my business working for my clients, and doing the day to day labor that matters to them a lot more than words in a post do. But in light of SCOTUS’ ruling on the nationwide injunctions a few hours ago, I would like to make a couple of observations; * It was obvious to every 1st year Constitutional Law student that multiple Federal District Judges were abusing their power and interfering with the Rule of Law by issuing nationwide injunctions. Yet none of these ‘legal’ organizations (some of which I belong and pay dues to) said anything about it. * It was apparent to any reasonable person - lawyer or not - that over the last 8 years, there was a double standard in the law: that which applied to Trump and his supporters, and that which applied to everyone else. I recall not once when any of these ‘legal’ organizations said anything at all about this legal double standard or the wide spread abuses of the prior Administration. * As I represented two (2) N.C. Citizens in the Jan 6 debacle, I witnessed firsthand and stood with them against the disgusting and disgraceful abuses from federal agents and federal prosecutors. No attorney in leadership, anywhere, in these ‘legal’ groups ever did or said anything about it. In fact, the opposite happened. * Instead of arguing against obvious discrimination, these ‘legal’ groups committed untold sums of money and issued statement after statement in support of the BLM movement, DEI and affirmative action policies, and the perverse interpretation of Title IX laws that were used to allow men in women’s sports, all while knowing, deep down, that these policies ran afoul of the the US Constitution. * When Joe Biden lied about and denied, his own criminal actions and those of his entire family in peddling their influence in China and Ukraine, and then pardoned them all, none of these ‘legal’ organizations issued any statements. At least, I didn’t see them. * When Marc Elias, Eric Holder and the liberal trial lawyers associations were raising millions of dollars to sue local and state governments to change election rules during C*VID - actions which did, indeed, undermine our democracy - neither the national or NC ‘legal’ organizations uttered one word in protest. I am proud of what I do everyday. I am honored to hold a license as a lawyer because it allows me to change the world one person, and one case, at a time. But I am damn ashamed of the so-called ‘leaders’ of my vocation who are witnesses to the same things I am, yet have said nothing about any of this until now when THIS President is taking strong, executive action to save the basic underpinnings of western civilization, especially as it relates to mass-migration and gender ideology. Kudos to the USSC for giving him a hand today. #NCPOL #USSupremeCourt

I think Matt Gaetz is a brilliant pick. Trump just improved the morale of the House GOP with Gaetz's departure. Gaetz won't get the votes in the Senate and the oppo dump will end his 2026 gubernatorial bid. But Trump gets to claim he had Gaetz's back. And all of Trump's AG's become fall guys who MAGA turn against, so a recess appointment would only further destroy Gaetz, all while Trump looks to have rewarded his friend.

@EWErickson @alemzs You’re wrong on Tillis unless he doesn’t plan to run for reelection. He’s already in out of favor with NC republicans. Would guarantee a primary he could not win.

Happy Friday, #WPN! Doing some remodeling at the Dail Center and I want to see your best game photos from our ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament runs. Reply to this tweet with your best shots, and we might select your photo to hang up at the practice facility.

@BPCox_ Why do I keep hearing that DD is going to retire? Honest question. He’s not old and is seemingly in good health. Is he really going to turn down 50-100mm in earning ability?

The Mastermind locked up? Yes please. At this point I’d wish for Gibson to be the HC in waiting if Doeren was considering to retire in a few years. Gibson wants to be a head coach, and what better place than the university he had helped to build up like NC State? I know West Virginia would probably be his first choice, but he has helped Doeren build the Wolfpack into a potential player on the national stage. More has to happen for that, but a strong foundation has been constructed.

Hey @RoyCooperNC if you ARE NOT going to write a letter on the behalf of Woods, (or Cam Hayes at ECU) could you kindly explain what the reason would be, and what differences would make you choose not to stand up for these athletes?
