So glad to finally see this paper in print! @henrikseeberg and I put together a dataset on the legislative agendas of 13 African countries. We hope that this resource will help advance the study of legislative politics in Africa as well as more broadly!
Henrik Bech Seeberg@henrikseeberg

In this study, we use @policyagendas codebook to issue categorize legislative agendas in 13 African countries over time. We show that democratic development enhances flow of information in political system and thus enlarges legislative agenda. Democracy matters!

@KooHo_jin Been doing a whole lot of talking about American politics in my CP class. Over here there is much less of a distinction. Might have even more to say next year

@FrantzeskakisN I remember you saying that Jan 6 is when American politics finally became interesting...at this point, maybe you should pivot to being an Americanist

Excited to see this in print! What happens when women who once fought in rebel movements enter parliament? Using new data from Uganda and Zimbabwe, @lizzie_brannon and I show that this pre-existing socialization has lasting effects on ex-rebel women MPs' behaviour in parliament

@KooHo_jin Just did that to prepare for a lecture. Brought back some fond memories totally unrelated to social inquiry.

@miwahman Thank you so much, Michael! Needless to say, none of it would have been possible without your guidance.

@Jodie_Boisvert Myself as well as most people I know doing a PhD had the same problem. The good thing is that in the rare occasions that you feel mentally prepared to pick up a book again, the love for reading and the enjoyment seems to still be there.

I used to love to read. Now I'm in my Phd, and I read so much for school. The last thing I want to do is read more. So, I veg out in front of the TV. Anyone else temporarily lose your love of reading when you are in your PhD? I hope to go back to reading for fun when I graduate.
