An interesting thread from @BretDevereaux here. Under this model of 'public scholarship', we can probably make a fairly good argument that our project represents just about the purest ideal of 'scholarship' vs 'activism' We'll take this as an excuse to offer commentary!

The distinction I always make is that activism is when you tell the public what to do, while public scholarship or engagement is when you answer the questions the public has. The latter *builds* support for the field, the former *spends* support for the field. 3/
