Looking at my wage slip, and enhanced pay (not that I get it because my work contractually closes the only time I would be eligible) is somehow £1.50 per hr less than standard pay. I know it’s theoretical, but that is still ridiculous. Weird.

@lobotomyvictim2 @SianGriffiths6 I started UG in 2012, but I was told then that Highers are slightly less than A-levels (hence 4yr degrees in Scotland), and Advanced Highers are slightly more advanced, but not enough to really matter. If a Scottish student goes to English uni, they look at the Higher results.

@DocShivSharma I don’t know if they still do it, but the Scottish government (during Salmond’s/Sturgeon’s tenure anyway) froze their pay. I think it was frozen at their 2008 level. So we know it CAN be done.

Considering the second half has a bunch of new characters, a LOT of cruelty and abuse from Heathcliffe, and effectively incest (Cathy, Linton, and Hareton are all cousins), it’s understandable why nearly every adaptation swerves away from it…

just found out that emerald fennell’s wuthering heights completely removes the book’s second half…which is essential to understanding the harm heathcliffe & cathy’s relationship caused, allowing the next generation to learn from their mistakes…which is the entire point…

@AliJaneMoore The Scottish deal for Drs have the exact same deal as what other NHS staff got in their last pay deal (such as myself). It made sense to offer that, and it made sense to accept it in my opinion.

Has the generous deal Scottish resident doctors negotiated made it harder to agree something in England? It has certainly raised expectations…..

Spoke to all resident doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Doctors expect a similar pay offer Scotland resident doctors received that got them close to full pay restoration. Ultimately this is about making sure the health service is properly staffed by improving retention.

@RossMcCaff In a similar fashion, I happened to look at flights from Edinburgh/Glasgow to Shetland next year. At almost anytime of the year, it’s around £330+ for a round trip. It’s actually cheaper for someone to fly from London, stop in Glasgow, and fly Glasgow to Shetland.

@DrHWazir In Scotland we definitely benefit from the free tuition fees for all students (first UG degree). Would it be enough to just scrap the tuition fee debt for Drs? And if applied to Drs, should it then apply to other qualified professionals in NHS (nurses, physios etc)?

Doctors often have over £100,000 of student debt after a 5-6 year medical degree.
Interesting to see @wesstreeting raise this just before talks today.
But let’s be clear: doctors still earn 21% less in real terms than in 2008.
That’s why we’re striking.

I’m curious. With the #LengReview due to be released soon (end of this month?), regardless of the results, will the recommendations be implemented across the NHS, or do we think NHSScotland/NI will take a different approach?
