@ceroribi I use startpage primarily, but sometimes have to switch back to google. It's unfortunate, but the other engines just don't do all that well.

@aviationbrk There's potentially a fire on board, and people STILL went to grab their bags? I swear, something has to be done against this behavior!

Lufthansa flight LH1753 evacuated in Athens after returning to the airport when the crew received an APU fire warning and reported smoke in the rear of the cabin.
Lufthansa confirmed that three passengers suffered minor injuries during the evacuation on Monday and were transferred to a hospital in Athens for first aid treatment.
A spokesperson for the airline said, "The crew of the Airbus A321, following the standard procedures, declared a state of air emergency in flight, in order to obtain priority landing clearance. During the evacuation process, three passengers were slightly injured and taken to a hospital for first aid. The safety of passengers and crew is our absolute priority."
English

@aviationbrk And that is why the RTO tests are performed for certification - they're meant to survive being overheated/on fire for a few minutes until ARFF arrives.

Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-343 evacuated at Kathmandu Airport after a fire broke out in its landing gear upon arrival from Istanbul.
All 277 passengers and 11 crew arriving from Istanbul were evacuated using the emergency exits following the fire, and nobody was injured, Gyanendra Bhul, a Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal spokesperson said.
Turkish Airlines said smoke was observed in the landing gear while taxiing, and technical inspections had been initiated. "Initial assessments indicate that the smoke was caused by a technical malfunction in a hydraulic pipe," Yahya Ustun, the airline's senior vice president, communications, said on social media platform X.
English

@techtacho @aviationbrk and why would that be the airline's fault?
English

@aviationbrk This post sounds like it was the airlines fault. The person probably wanted to end his/her life, and could have potentially ended everyone's life on that plane too. Imagine if it happened when they reached V1.

New footage is circulating of Frontier Airlines flight hitting a person on the runway during takeoff from Denver International Airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board on Sunday said it is gathering information about the evacuation of a Frontier Airlines plane after it hit and killed a person on the runway at Denver International Airport during takeoff.
A spokesman for the Denver Police Department said Sunday the investigation into the incident was ongoing and that the identity of the person on the runway will be confirmed and released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.

@RaleighRebels2k @aviationbrk yes, and bringing carry-ons is dangerous as it slows down evacuation, and might damage equipment. During safety briefings you're ordered to leave everything behind.
English

@FreSch_Dude @aviationbrk WTF are you talking about. That was their carry-on luggage and if the passenger wanted to leave it they could have.
English

@alleymeows @tmz_tom @YeetToOrbit @aviationbrk yes, but it's still a fact that evacuations are dangerous and pros and cons have to be weighed. They're only performed once it's deemed worth taking the risk in the name of safety.
You can ask commercial pilots about the decision and risks of issuing an evac order.
English

@flying_steve Sounds logical, but when you're in a stressful situation, doesn't always click, and you could start to speak rapidly without following proper comms. Would probably have to be drilled during training so it's second nature, can be done without thinking.
English

@alleymeows @tmz_tom @YeetToOrbit @aviationbrk evacuations are dangerous, they aren't just done on a whim. If stairs aren't available, and it's not urgent, you'll remain on board. Risk of injury is high when you issue an evac order, and is only done in emergencies.
English

@FreSch_Dude @tmz_tom @YeetToOrbit @aviationbrk My best guess is that there wasnt any air stairs available, the FAA and EASA mandates a 90s evac time during emergencies, judging by the fact the 2nd video is 23 seconds long and has a cut it probably took way longer than the 90 seconds and wasnt an emergency evac
English

@alleymeows @tmz_tom @YeetToOrbit @aviationbrk if that's the case, then fine. But I find that doubtful as an evacuation is only done in an actual emergency, as it's quite dangerous to do. if it were safe, they'd likely deplane normally instead of evacuating.
English

@FreSch_Dude @tmz_tom @YeetToOrbit @aviationbrk im sure they were told to take their things as there wasnt an immediate emergency where every second counts, if that was the case there wouldnt be people standing that close to the plane either
English

@YeetToOrbit @aviationbrk you're the one disregarding their instructions to leave everything behind though.
Yes, it's unfair that compensation doesn't fully cover expensive items, but my point still stands - that this is still a problem.
English

@FreSch_Dude @aviationbrk The airline is the one who needs to explain to passengers why my 6 grand laptop is not important enough.
English

@tmz_tom @YeetToOrbit @aviationbrk In this case, yes. But I'm not willing to wait for a scenario where this actually does cause people to die, and only then action gets taken. The rules in aviation are written in enough blood, there's no need to wait for people to die before changes are enacted.
English

@szczur_wodny_ @YeetToOrbit @aviationbrk I know, I'm talking about in general.
Even then, that's all the more reason to leave your stuff behind, as there's no risk of it being destroyed in that case, no? I'm of the opinion "better safe than sorry", you never know what might happen.
English

@YeetToOrbit @aviationbrk I'd like to see you explain that to the families of people who perish in crashes because your 6 grand laptop was more important than their relative's lives...
I agree that compensation in case of accident is very limited, doesn't mean you get to be selfish.
English

@FreSch_Dude @aviationbrk If you're travelling with a laptop worth like $6000, the airline won't pay out $6000 if it gets destroyed in an accident. This means, quite obviously, that if you take your bag and another passenger gets lost in the accident, the airline is morally responsible for their death.
English

@aviationbrk you can hear the stress level spike for ATC as his workload had just increased... Hope the pilots are mentally fine from this as well... The heck was someone doing on the runway?
English

A Frontier Airlines flight bound for LAX hit a person on the runway during takeoff from Denver International Airport on Friday.
The Airbus A321 was taking off from runway 17L when it appeared to strike an individual walking on the runway. The pilot quickly aborted the takeoff.
Passengers were evacuated on the runway and are being bused back to the terminal. Fire crews were dispatched to the aircraft to extinguish the engine fire.
Authorities have not yet released additional information about the person on the runway or the circumstances that led to the incident.
English

@aviationbrk Another case where people are evacing with their carry ons... Really, there should be legislation or something to punish people for doing this.
English

An emergency evacuation was launched at Chandigarh Airport on Tuesday after a power bank caught fire on an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Chandigarh.
“On 5 May 2026, while IndiGo flight 6E 108 from Hyderabad to Chandigarh was stationary after landing, an incident involving a customer's personal electronic equipment catching fire was reported,” IndiGo Airlines confirmed in a statement.
“In the interest of safety, an immediate evacuation was carried out and all the relevant authorities were immediately informed. All customers have been safely moved to the terminal and are being attended to by the team to ensure their well-being. The aircraft will undergo necessary checks before resuming operations. At IndiGo, the safety of our customers and crew remains our top priority,” the airline added further.

@RinoTheBouncer I disagree. Focusing on graphics should've never removed the focus for making good games. so "now that graphics are good we can focus on the game quality" isn't a valid statement to me, that's just an excuse for terrible games.

@StarsRebornVT Be wary of downloading/opening files, don't click on suspicious links, and have 2FA active, and you should be decently safe. Nothing is perfect, of course, but generally being wary is the bare minimum on the internet nowadays.
English

@StarsRebornVT I'd say 99% of "hacks" are due to people letting the hackers into their account, by phishing links (fake sites where you "log in" but actually hand over your details) or by having the user install viruses or run malicious scripts.
