Neuralink’s surgical robot is an amazing leap forward in neurosurgery. I’m reminded of a 1964 BBC interview, in which Arthur C. Clarke predicted that one day we might have brain surgeons in Edinburgh operating on patients in New Zealand. In a way, we’ve begun to move beyond the parameters of this prediction through advanced robotics. Neuralink, in particular, is at the forefront of this progress, in that they’re developing systems that will achieve dramatically greater levels of precision and scalability in delicate brain procedures, than is currently possible with human surgeons alone.

@teslaownersSV Any technology invention can be assessed in terms of how it improves fundamental metrics. It is impossible to become a multiplanet civilization without reusable rockets, just as it would have been impossible to colonize America with expendable boats.

Everyone obsesses over Starship's height and thrust. The number that actually matters: cost per kg to orbit. Falcon 9 brought it from ~$54,500 (Shuttle era) to ~$1,500. Starship targets <$100. A 500x reduction in 25 years. That's the curve enabling Mars, lunar bases and orbital industry. Everything else is a consequence of that one number.
