The victims (16) name is Landen. The main attacker (the one in the red shoes) is called Zion Griffith. He was tried as an adult, so his name was released. The other two were tried as minors, so names were withheld. INCIDENT DETAILS: • The trap: On 24 July 2023, the victim was lured to a home by individuals he believed were his friends. • The attack: Once inside, he was swarmed by three teenagers. The recorded footage showed the attackers repeatedly punching and stamping on his head while he was on the ground. • Get out of my house: During the assault, the lead attacker, who was wearing distinctive red shoes, was recorded shouting, "Get the fuck out of my house!" as he continued to kick the victim. • Medical emergency: The victim began having seizures during the attack. Rather than helping, the attackers dragged his seizing body out of the house and left him on the pavement. • Injuries: The victim suffered a brain haemorrhage (bleeding) and severe traumatic brain injury. He spent weeks in the ICU and was left with permanent cognitive and physical impairments. Update on the victims condition: As of late 2024 and early 2025, the victim continues to undergo intensive physiotherapy and speech therapy. • Physical progress: He has had to relearn basic motor skills, including walking and feeding himself. • Long-term effects: While he has made significant strides, he reportedly still suffers from memory loss, balance issues, and the ongoing risk of post-traumatic epilepsy due to the severity of the brain damage. Legal outcomes and sentencing: The sentencing was a point of significant public and familial frustration: • Lead attacker (red shoes): Sentenced to 4 to 10 years in a state correctional facility. • Secondary attackers: Received sentences ranging from 2 to 5 years. • The recorder: The individual who filmed the incident without intervening received probation, a decision that sparked outrage, given their role in documenting the brutality while the victim was in medical distress.
