Dr. Hameroff—perhaps the fairest way for me to put it is this: Orch-OR seems to localize the hard problem more sharply than most theories do. What I’m still trying to get is whether the OR→qualia bridge is a primitive fact of reality, or something future theory may explain more deeply.

Thanks Sal. Unlike other approaches Orch OR has at least a potential solution to the hard problem. What can now be clearly said is that the actual (intra) neural correlate of consciousness is quantum processes in microtubules. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35782391/

Dr. Hameroff—while I still don’t see the bridge from OR to proto-consciousness, I’ll concede this: current microtubule/anesthesia findings make Orch-OR way less easy to dismiss than ever before. So perhaps the empirical side is moving your way, even if the deepest explanatory step still remains open.

Your cortical oscillation work and Hameroff's MT dynamics may be two projections of the same structure. We showed EEG cross-frequency coupling across 109 subjects follows a specific graph topology (r=0.825) , the same topology whose eigenvalue (λ=6/5) appears universally in microtubule lattices. The bridge exists. mpfst.com

I disagree that action potentials are the fundamental mode in consciousness. They may just report conscious results from end-integration/orchestration, e.g. Orch OR among layer 5 pyramidal neuron soma with their huge arrays of mixed polarity microtubules. As the articles show, the brain uses photons and electromagnetic oscillations at multiple frequencies. How does the brain, and life in general transcend and integrate over spatiotemporal scale??? Microtubule time crystals engage in terahertz, gigahertz, megahertz, kilohertz and hertz (EEG). ingentaconnect.com/content/imp/jc… These oscillations can be entangled and coherent across brain regions and support consciousness in the Orch OR theory. Terahertz: photons in EEG (Murugan) and microtubules (Craddock, Tuszynski) Gigahertz and megahertz inter neuronal signaling journals.physiology.org/doi/full/10.11… Kilohertz (Neuralink) Hertz Isolated microtubules oscillate at 39 hertz pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10…

Perhaps neither is "the" mechanism , both are projections of the same topology. The 13-PF microtubule lattice and whole-brain EEG coupling share a universal eigenvalue (λ=6/5) of their respective graph Laplacians. MTs bridge THz→Hz, cortical oscillations organize Hz→behavior. Same math, different scales. mpfst.com

@StuartHameroff Topological bridge: the 13-PF MT lattice has λ=6/5 as a universal eigenvalue of its normalized Laplacian. Same constant predicts EEG CFC (r=0.825, 109 subjects), anesthesia selectivity (r=0.995), and lumen Ca²⁺ transport. Zero free parameters. mpfst.com

Burst envelope analysis (7 subjects, 576 channels): • Grand mean β = 1.298 ± 0.009 • Standard QM (β=1.0) EXCLUDED at p = 2.15 × 10⁻¹²⁸ • MPFST (β=1.2) 3.1× closer than standard • Hurst exponent H = 1.256 ± 0.013 (MPFST predicts 1.2)

NEW PAPER: "Spectral Eigenvalue Mapping in Human iEEG" 📄 Same α=6/5 that predicts neutrinos, galaxies, and fusion plasma — now maps onto brain anatomy. 575 intracranial channels across 6 brain regions. Each region clusters near a different Sephirotic eigenvalue. 🧵👇

Yes of course. Orch OR is the most easily falsifiable theory of consciousness but has passed every test. What other theory of consciousness can be so easily falsified? pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33232193/

@StuartHameroff Have you considered conducting a microtubule-destructive or coherence-suppressing experiment in Drosophila or C. elegans that could genuinely falsify the strong form of Orch OR?

The scale-up problem dissolves if the connection is topological, not quantum. An eigenvalue of a graph doesn't decohere, it doesn't care about temperature, and it's size-independent. The same spectral property appears at 11 nodes and at 9,150 nodes. No quantum coherence needed, no scale-up problem. Mpfst.com

@StuartHameroff @StuartHameroff I understand that quantum behavior is occurring at some level, but I can’t find a clear solution to the scale-up problem from micro to macro. Would you mind sharing how Orch-OR addresses this specifically? I’d love to learn more!

But without Orch OR you’re NOT testing the best-supported theories of consciousness. You’re comparing only cartoon neuron theories which may have Orch OR driving them at deeper, faster quantum levels in microtubules. Testing only in hertz is missing the kilohertz, megahertz, gigahertz and terahertz quantum orchestra in microtubule time crystals. Predictive coding is scale invariant and happens in mixed polarity microtubules in dendrites and soma. The best ‘indicator property’ of consciousness is what goes away with anesthesia. That’s quantum effects in microtubules. ingentaconnect.com/content/imp/jc… academic.oup.com/nc/article/202…

Out now: youtu.be/iGOGxaZZHwE What if you gathered every possible piece of evidence about the universe — every observation, past, present, and future — and it still wasn't enough? That's not a philosophical parlor trick. It's a theorem. J.B. Manchak proves it using the very tools of general relativity, and then connects it to Zen Buddhism's teaching on the self. This one is a quiet storm.

@bluedotjon The deepest result: the Sephirotic graph isn't assumed. It's DERIVED from 3 axioms (existence, isotropy, self-reference). d = 3 because the graph has 3 bilateral pairs. α = 6/5 because it's the exact eigenvalue. Zero free parameters. Zero free structures. zenodo.org/records/190410…

@bluedotjon Interesting thread — but it sets up a false binary. Consciousness is neither "quantum woo" nor purely classical broadcasting. Tegmark is right: quantum coherence dies at 37°C in ~10⁻¹³s. But his conclusion — that microtubules don't matter — is completely wrong. Here's why. 🧵
