@baym Same boat...filling with water...#covideconomics how is it all those companies got $$$ for keeping people employed but PI's got nothing extra to keep grant funds from depleting? More of ... do what you proposed for less and less $$$.

For those of us who are grant funded, a tenure extension isn't the answer. We paid out grant money. More time to "catch up" without more cash doesn't help. Because we didn't fire our people for not producing, we paid them so they could get by in an unprecedented time

This isn't a new thought, but I'm wondering today how much of the pervasive sense of burnout or disengagement among life science professors today is a sense of soft institutional betrayal for the last three years. That our institutions do not share our morals
