Storytelling is an essential leadership skill. Stories help us make connections, build meaningful relationships with others & retain information. We're 7x more likely to remember a fact when it's wrapped in a story. How do we influence others? Recent research shows that the approach most commonly used by leaders is "selling" - getting others to agree by showing them your idea is the best/most beneficial. However, influencing by "selling" produces suboptimal compromises. My husband has been away for work this week & is due home in an hour, so I just touched up my make up & put on perfume even though this week has very nearly BROKEN me & I really just want to collapse on the couch like a beached whale in fluffy pyjamas. Really feel I deserve 10/10 wife points for this.

All the way from Clare Island to Maynooth, Community Paramedics William and Oisín presented at the PHECC Research Conference this week. Their study explored the deployment of Community Paramedics to rural islands off the coast of Ireland. Amazing work, well done👏

My husband talking at @Carfestevent earlier this year about how my perimenopausal symptoms were affecting him and our family. I met Paul when I was 18 in our first week at medical school and he is the most important person in my life. However, the uncontrollable rage I had when I was perimenopausal affected him to the extent he thought about leaving me. Thankfully he didn’t but many people’s relationships do break down which is so sad. Access to evidence based treatment in the form of hormones should improve as currently globally only 5% of perimenopausal and menopausal women are prescribed HRT and even less are prescribed testosterone. Taking the right dose and type of hormones can improve mood, reduce irritability and increase happiness.
