They finally showed how Doduo actually flies and how Rhydon surfs!!? 🤣 I love that they extended the Pokémon ecology that they’ve been pushing into the anipoke. They even showed a Ribombee hiding among Vespiquen because it’s a Beefly pretending to be a Bee among real Bees!

@madridistadetx @RoombaDori @Cybren @fortnitebussy1 Isn’t a lot of the core of powerscaling applying it to some sorta metric like a tier system. If you are just powerscaling 2 characters independent of that system aren’t you just reinventing the word compare

@RoombaDori @Cybren @fortnitebussy1 the author had to consider which species is faster. so yes, he powerscaled tortoise speed against hares. then, in order to make the story compelling and meaningful, he found a reason for the tortoise to win that wasn’t just “well that powerscaling i just did doesn’t matter”

i think the powerscalers are kind of winning this Because it keeps getting funnier. "actually any stakes are powerscaling" that's not true. "well actually being able to think is powerscaling. when a character has feelings that's battle iq which is part of powerscaling"

@senkitaisen @AlanSmi25812125 @makapatag I’m not saying you should have no consistency just that caring that every last detail of a character’s abilities is completely set in stone is very limiting for your writing. Being able to be flexible with your own rules helps you focus on other aspects.

@FreshKnight1 @AlanSmi25812125 @makapatag how can you make villains feel truly threatening and scary if the readers know u'll just give ur heroes random powerups and make them win anyway without it feeling earned? how can you have any kind of real stakes and tension if you have no good consistency?

dont get it twisted now boy. power scaling isnt a writing device its a reader's device. no sane writer writes with "power scaling" in mind and those that do are creatively bankrupt fanfiction writers that have the writing capability of a 2nd grader

@senkitaisen @AlanSmi25812125 @makapatag not necessarily, it’s a convenience for sure but getting wrapped up in complete consistency honestly just makes your story worse off
