Wonderful few days skiing in New Mexico. Every trip the boys get stronger, more controlled, and confident. It is fun to watch the progression in real time. Some fresh snow helped too!

During the visit, KU students had the opportunity to speak with Director Bhattacharya and tell him about their research. I appreciate the support from the NIH for the KU Health System, as it invests in the success of KS students and future medical researchers, doctors and health professionals. These individuals will play a critical role in the ongoing effort to find cures for diseases that impact many lives. Thank you to @DrJBhattacharya for taking the time to visit & learn more about the incredible research being conducted right here in KS. Thank you to Chancellor Girod, Dr. Roy Jensen, and the entire team—as well as the advocacy leaders & Kansas representatives who joined us—for their hospitality and for their commitment to improving health outcomes across Kansas and the country.

It was great hosting @NIHDirector_Jay at @KUMedCenter & @KUHospital in Kansas City, KS, to showcase the lifesaving research conducted in KS that’s strengthened by NIH support. We received an update on the new KU Cancer Center facility, which will bring researchers together under one roof to strengthen collaboration & expand the center’s national leadership. With the help of federal funding that I secured, KU now has the resources necessary to complete this project at a time when cancer diagnoses in our region continue to rise. We also discussed KU’s Brain Health Initiative and its efforts to expand research and clinical care in Alzheimer’s disease and neurological disorders.

Excited that our paper on RiboLight (RL) dyes has been published - new multicolor dyes that are RNA-specific. They work great in live cells and in gels- pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
