@RepJackKimble I used to think that evil but competent people in charge were preferable to alternatives. I don’t think so anymore. Real idiots are better. Also I do not believe that your next job offer is based on competency and not a kickback for things you did in the office.

Just a friendly warning. We don’t even make $200k per year in Congress despite working nearly 140 days. If we aren’t properly compensated, a lot of us will go to the private sector and you will be left with some real idiots in Congress.

@princessxemnas 1) it is a tiny bit suspicious that evil spirit appears literally the next day this guy arrives. 2) my bigger beef here is Korra somehow bought into “the avatar must be neutral and support both the invaded and the invader equally.”

The question is not whether he deserves execution (he does), but whether we should execute him (we shouldn't). In the USA, executing people does not reduce crime, protect people (at least if incarcerated in more protective prisons), or save money compared to long term imprisonment. Executing people hardens us as a society to others. All systems of capital punishment there are systems to protect the executioner from the deed, showing the recognition of how such acts are bad for them as human beings, even when they agree in principle it's moral. In the US, the evidence & ethics are against having any executions.
Matt Walsh@MattWalshBlog

I am challenging any death penalty opponent — there are millions of them, allegedly — to step up to the plate right now and explain why this guy should not be executed. His guilt is established beyond any doubt whatsoever. His crime is utterly savage and heinous. Tell us why he doesn’t deserve to die. Go ahead.

The chip change actually removes the underlying horror of Order 66 by removing the active decision 99% of clones made to follow the order There's no internal conflict, no horror in the fact these men are just as soulless as the droids, and no agency. Nope it was all "le evil brain chip" The worst fucking change and proof that Filoni is a hack that needs handlers to tell him when an idea is fucking retarded
Paisios@AngloVarangian

This shows how the original clone wars writing in the early to mid 2000s was way better than Dave Filoni's version.

@star_boy_80 Secret society becoming a corrupt and complacent sinecure is actually extremely in character for secret societies. Should’ve been expanded on. Korra has many promising ideas, but always completely fumbles the execution. It’s this bait and switch that makes people so angry.

@naMnaSYt I can’t help but compare her to Aang in this scene. Aang once lashed out on Katara because he hated that during Black Sun invasion other people will risk their lives to fix his mistakes. Korra casually tries to start WW over not just her responsibility, but something she caused

so far this season if someone doesn't tell Korra what she wants to hear, she hates them and thinks they're dumb or holding her back it does not make sense for RC to jump in on a war that has nothing to do with them. Hell, he didn't even have to offer diplomatic help but he did

@kevinbolk People are thinking too far ahead and turn themselves stupid. Gold useless when you can make it? Nobody said make 1000 tons of it. A few kilos would solve a lot of their problems. With Eve why gold? Just directly make money.

This is why I’ve never understood the desire for “realistic” superhero stories. A world with actual godlike metahumans wouldn’t just look like ours with capes, it would be completely unrecognizable. For instance, gold would be effectively worthless in a universe where someone can literally poop it out.

@iDavey You seem to completely forget how dangerous, complex and risky is to even LEARN how to do a lightning, let alone conjuring it. Zuko couldn't learn lightning bending bc of that, but we're supposed that the WORKING CLASS can do it with no problem at all? Where did they even learn?

Again Y'all did NOT pay attention to anything y'all claim to watch. Lightning was rare, yes. But not so rare where only 3 people out of the billions of humans could do it. Furthermore, the knowledge of how to properly generate lightning was no longer hoarded by the Fire Nation royalty and semenated to those who wanted to learn. It was STILL a rare skill, in the grand scheme. The BIGGEST misconception is that because you see tens of people, maybe even a hundred, generating lightning, that you assume the entire world knows how to. Even if 100 people knew how to generate lightning, it would still be rare as that's 100 out of the entire world population. Furthermore, that power plant is ONLY in Republic City. It exists nowhere else, implying that it still is a specialized skill.
namnas@naMnaSYt

bending evolving is cool but this is a form that makes no sense to become so common lightningbending requires separating positive and negative energy, and at the moment they crash back together you guide it Iroh himself said only a select few could this

@naMnaSYt I believe you’re overthinking. You can think of White Lotus compound as of a boarding school. Yes, they have some authority, but ultimately they cannot contradict Korra’s parents, Katara and Tenzin (who are also kind of like a family to her.)

didn't say anything about Korra, I'm just pointing out inconsistent writing in season 1 we see The White Lotus are the ones to search for and train the Avatar, and we see that they have say over her Tonraq and Tenzin apparently having that power now is a contradiction to s1
メ𝟶@Ez_Opeyemi

Lmao. I'm pretty sure "Her Father" and The Avatar's son had that authority. Let me guess, Korra's at fault again. You're "rewatching" but all you've done is display the most glaring media illiteracy I've ever encountered.
