What happens when you combine a PIC microcontroller with the idea of retro Christmas lights? Find out in my new tutorial, happy holidays! youtu.be/wiOAHj1wmq8

@FriendlyWire @Hacksterio Nice! But why did you stop at 24? Did you mix it up with a hour-of-day clock? Oh! I almost posted this and then I got a DOH! moment. Of course it's 24 days when it's an Advent Calendar. I see... Silly me. ;-)

@3DPrintAficio This will be a one-off project, so no PCB, just hand-wiring on a perfboard. But I want to make it easy to understand for beginners (on my channel I have covered all components, with the exception of the LCD, which will come in the new year).

@FriendlyWire Colour coding and grouping saved me tons of debugging time! Also try schematic software with auto-layout for complex designs.

A bit more parts on the next project... Any ideas how to make the schematic more readable?

Why do calendars have to be boring? Build your own with LEDs, switches, and without any microcontroller! youtu.be/WwnAVz5tlpY

@FriendlyWire ah, seems to be two position switches and one colour LEDs, I'm guessing a single player game now...

@tdarlic @MicrochipMakes Good question: I wanted to cover beginner and budget-friendly options. Of course the PICkit4 and PICkit5 are also excellent choices.

@FriendlyWire Try LVP mode instead of HVP - often works better with MPLAB Snap. Also check for firmware updates!

So the MPLAB Snap doesn't like HVP (meaning that you cannot use MCLR as an additional input). Any workarounds?
