Not only does Cloud exclude Tifa about something related to him and Aerith (to Tifa's jealousy yet again), but Denzel's parents are literally named Abel and Chloe (A + C). Dev intent is so comically straightforward that we don't even need to type, these 4 screenshots summarize it

Cloud had every right to fall into a depression when he saw that kid; the resemblance is INSANE

Aerith was a revolutionary character in her time, very feminist, who didn't ask permission or apologize to anyone for who she was. She broke the mold of the typical damsel in distress of the 90s, which is what many current female characters try to be, failing terribly in their writing because they are just simple Mary Sues without any charm. It is ironic that now Aerith has to be toned down so as not to make people uncomfortable, when in the 90s she was loved and appreciated for that personality, for being herself, nowadays she is hated for being who she is without even showing how she was really written in full.
