@graveleater_ That's like saying that a bag of flour has a bad UX because it doesn't explain how to use the oven. Jargon is just shorthand. If I have to explain all the Jargon, yes, it would take 10000 lines.

@Frift4 You do know UX just means user experience right? The user experience of someone trying to use someone's code but can't because of a jargon barrier means the uploader designed a bad UX? And if it takes 1000 lines to make a readme, maybe you're a bad developer.

@graveleater_ You talk about the platform and the people who use it to host their code like they're the same thing. Do you want to the UX to change or do you want devs to write 10000 line readmes?

@Frift4 And that's my whole point, the user experience for the site is dogshit and could be improved, but isn't. And my opinion is if something can be improved then why not improve it, but it seems devs are fine with being adequate instead.

@graveleater_ We're not purposefully dense. We just have to assume some sort of base knowledge otherwise we'd spend hours explaining the same thing over and over again. Again, it's a site to host code, not tutorials.

@Frift4 It is accessible but not easily accessible. Just cause I can access said code doesnt mean it's easy to figure out how to use it, especially when developers are purposefully dense with how to implement their code.

@graveleater_ It's not unusual to feel frustrated when you get lost. That's okay.

@Frift4 I dont get this sentiment that github is somehow this underground secret solely for developers when it's just a hub for code. Anyone with a computer and has a specific problem need solving, they're going to end up on github and they're going to be frustrated, like it or not.

@graveleater_ But the code is easily accessible. It's literally right there. You can browse it directly on the website, or clone the repo, or download it as a zip.

@Frift4 Finally a reasonable explanation. I think this shit should be more accessible and the idea that code has to be gatekept needs to die, but you're right that coders dont owe anyone anything, even if I think it's generally more helpful for everyone to have easily accessible code.

@graveleater_ If you end up on Github without coding knowledge it means you got lost. If your looking for some FOSS program to download you go to that projects website.

@Frift4 I always hear how it's a site for developers, but we all know that isn't really true. The site being a host for open source code means that there will invariably be people who are looking for a specific solution to a problem who may not have any coding knowledge.

@graveleater_ Because fitting MY solution that I created to solve MY problem to YOUR problem is usually just a lot more work than it's worth it. People share their code because they think it might be useful for someone. That doesn't mean they owe the general public anything.

@Frift4 What is the point of developing code in the first place? Correct me if im wrong but isn't it to solve some problem or to do something specific? Isnt the purpose of sharing that code to improve said code because there is a mutual benefit in doing so? So why not make it accessible?

@graveleater_ GitHub is a site for developers, not end users. It's a for hosting source code and tracking code changes, not for hosting runnable programs. Turning code into a working program is not somethings that's done with a simple press of a button.

@NINtendo_maya If there isn't any reason not to add one, then why not add one. It's just bad user experience to make things unnecessarily difficult for average users.

if that brit vtuber arrest thing turns out to be a publicity stunt it's going to look pretty embarrassing the way people are acting. still, i guess it would be preferable to it being real na?

Instead of just saying "thats CP", like it ends all discussions, I'd encourage everyone to seriously examine why CSAM has been made illegal in large parts of the world and then try to apply the same reasoning to Lolicon art.
