I often see people make the case that grooming animals creatively is cruel because it disregards the dignity of the animal. .... but I actually don't understand what dignity would be for an animal. Is it the same as human dignity? Do animals like birds and fish have the same sense of dignity as humans?

@aangellface I know they offer “eco plastic bsmboo” etc too but I’ve seen the chemical process, everyone’s so afraid of microplastics in the dirt that they’d rather poison the water and kill the forests

The acrylic merch concerns make no sense to me as an artist or a consumer because what do you even want artists to make when every other tool will contribute to the same issue in some way

@liftmeupIetmego @yuquitaz yeah, I had the eco bamboo ‘plastic’ ones too and I kept getting told it just didn’t look as clean, or ‘professional’ as they’d expect for the price..some also commented they were concerned about cutting down trees.

@yuquitaz I love the idea of wood charms but the time I tried to sell wood versions no one bought them at con but I heard so many comment that they looked cheap and not as professional 😭

I've been in fandom spaces for about 16 years and... a weird recurring situation is... fans of characters who are considered evil/assholes being generally more level-headed and peaceful than fans of nice/lovable characters, who often behave aggressively. In every fandom.
