"End of the Movie," by Cake is my theme song. I used to think maybe it was just the intro for like Season 4 of my life, you know? Like in The Wire how they always change it? But it turns out my life is a one-theme-song kind of show. 🤷‍♂️

The bat flip debate is so dumb. The WBC is an *international* tournament. And different countries have different baseball cultures. 🇰🇷 In the KBO, bat flipping is part of the game, and considered an art form in its own right. 🇯🇵 NPB pitchers tip their hat and bow after giving up a home run. If they don’t, its considered disrespectful to the hitter. 🇺🇸 MLB has a more “professional” culture, like Japan. Lot’s of unwritten rules that emphasize humility and sportsmanship. 🇩🇴🇵🇷🇨🇺 The Caribbean Leagues are by far the loudest and most “extra.” Bat flips, excessive celebrations, etc. We should be embracing these differences.

I guess I don't understand why Setting The Bat Down is preserving this dude's enjoyment, and it annoys me he's not thinking about that. HE needs them to set the bat down in order to enjoy baseball; that's objectively true or he wouldn't be here.

I want the most massive bat flip possible in a big moment. Sports are fun. Show emotion. Be excited when you make a big play.

@HornTakes @geoffschwartz My bad; I was trying to communicate that bat flipping is a spectrum and it can always be more gentle or aggressive, and limiting the merit of an argument to one half of a spectrum and its relationship to the status quo is intellectually dishonest. I just didn't want to type it.

@ginoradja @geoffschwartz It also grew the game. People rarely follow or know stars from other teams, and the effort that goes into stopping the game from gaining national interest is astounding. People know who Bautista, and his bat flips are part of his (hateable) brand. I'm here for it.

@ginoradja @geoffschwartz I hate Bautista so much and this bat flip is ELECTRIC. It added to his identity as a villain in my mind, which I love. It added meaning to my Royals winning the 2015 ALCS. It motivated my wife to be him for Halloween 😂 Let players decide what's worthy of retaliation, not us.

@JSamwise I always forget how much of a joke Euron was in the show. I understand skipping out on Victarion Crab-Arm Greyjoy, even though I love that character, but making Euron a joke was one of the largest disappointments in the series. Ignorance really is bliss sometimes.
