@therileyguy We are just finishing a rematch of the series. Completely disagree that the show portrays the divorce as painless. He hides his pain under a guise of unwavering positivity that leads to severe panic attacks and has to go through therapy.

It's crazy that Holiday and Moyer hold up Ted Lasso as a legit source of moral formation for secular parents. The assumption underneath is clear: religious people outsource their moral reasoning to priests and prophets. "If you're not going to church... where somebody else is doing that for you..." AKA Christians can't think for themselves. The superior secular humanist, by contrast, arrives at objective morality through pure enlightened reason. It's a condescending premise. And it's wrong. @andrewklavan has a great YouTube video on Ted Lasso. His takeaway: that specific brand of unshakeable American optimism, and belief the show is built on? It's historically rooted in faith. Pull the faith out, and there is no foundation. The show treats Ted's divorce as a mature, selfless act. Klavan calls it what it is: Hollywood's version of decency, where divorce is painless, sophisticated and normal, minimizing the true cost, particularly to children. Here's the real irony... Hollywood inherited the blueprint for a good man from a faith tradition it despises.

“As modern progressives not going to church we have to do more to inculcated moral lessons in our kids,” Ryan Holiday “We watch Ted Lasso with our kids,” NYTimes science reporter “Yes!" 🥴🥴

@AP4Liberty MLK is an American icon not a Left icon. I guess it is a new day when we stop celebrating civil/equal rights and non-violent resistance of unjust laws...

@StephenKentX He was distracted filming with his phone and ignored that she was turning her wheel before and during her acceleration. If you are about to be run over you jump out of the way because shooting the driver will not save you, the car will keep going.

@AnnaGorisch The Supreme Court ordered the administration to facilitate his return. At the very least that means Trump could have asked the President of El Salvador for him back when he was in the White House instead of two heads of state acting dumb and saying they can’t.

Today's ruling from SCOTUS grants a presumption of immunity for any "official act." This allows a president to do terrible things, as long as it is claimed to be in their official capacity as president. This is like qualified immunity on steroids, and I oppose this ruling from the court. Nowhere does the Constitution grant this presumption of immunity to the executive branch. Much like qualified immunity, this seems to be a doctrine made by legislating from the bench. That is not the proper role of the court.

I oppose the newly passed law in Louisiana that requires all public school classrooms to display the 10 Commandments, and there are a few reasons why. First, I need to say that I am a proud and practicing Christian. I attend church, and I find strength in my faith and my church community. That being said, I oppose this law because it gives the government a foothold into faith that should be rightfully opposed by all. We don't want to start the journey towards a state-sanctioned religion. Being a Christian, I know we have many churches and denominations, and giving the government the inch that will become the mile is not the way to protect those different churches and faiths. It leads the way for the government to pick one over the others, and that runs contradictory to our traditions and our Constitution. Such actions also discount the religions (or lack thereof) of Louisiana students who are not followers of the Abrahamic faiths. The government shouldn't be in the business of regulating religion. It should also be said that this speaks to the need to fully decentralize education away from the current public model and allow parents and students to choose the best school for them. Sometimes, this will be a religious school, and that should be the choice of the parent and their student, not a legislature in Baton Rouge or any legislature. People should be both free to worship (or not) as they see fit and be able to choose the school that's best for them. Both of these goals require the government, be it federal, state, or local, to take a step back and honor the most sacred governance, which is the self-governance of the individual. If you want to send your child to a school that displays the 10 Commandments, by all means, do so, but don't force that requirement upon other families. If we want our freedom, we must insist that the same freedom be afforded to others.
