@MacticsG1 I mean Destiny and Marathon are on the same side, if one does good so will the other, kinda stupid to just not support both imo.

Seeing some chatter that folks are mad that GCX quickly pivoted to include a celebration of the game we founded our event on.
🤷🏻♂️
I’ve also seen an immense amount of folks thankful we made our intent clear in this celebration quickly.
I’m choosing to ignore the first group.

This is still so unreal to me. I always believed we didn’t really need a D3 and Bungie could’ve made D2 into it. Now we do need a D3 though.

While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. @Dexerto Well because people have no opinion for themselves and just like spreading hate. I’ve been playing Destiny since the beta. Marathon is a FANTASTIC game and you should be supporting it if you want a D3. I am mourning Destiny 2 absolutely but, the studio’s leadership just failed.

@JuiceBoxHero517 I know but, without all the negativity Bungie could’ve saved D2 and turned it all into pseudo D3. They were already going that direction with The Edge of Fate. They just made such huge mistakes like the portal and new armour system changes.

@FuNi_Spartan That’s fine. In order to get a D3 we had to have an end to D2, that’s kinda how this works.

As a Destiny 2 player, it’s truly nonsense to blame the death purely on Marathon.
it is an easy scapegoat, but Destiny has been bleeding for many years. It lived way past Destiny 1. It has lived a long life.
Bungie made many decisions regarding the sandbox and expansions that continued to kill the player-base. I truly do mourn for the game we could’ve had.
I also don’t see Destiny 3 ever existing without Destiny 2 dying. The future remains uncertain and although frustrating, stay hopeful.
