$TSLA China 🇨🇳 Q2 2024 sales are trending down ~11,000 (-8.7%) vs the same time last year, despite: 1) $2,000 price cuts in Q2 (on top of Q1 price cuts). 2) 0% financing 3) 0 down. 4) $3,600 Inventory discounts + Readily available inventory. 5) NEV purchase subsidy. 6) New Highland model. Last year, they actually raised prices in Q2. I expect Q2 to end up over 20,000 cars behind last year, as final weeks sales continue to disappoint.

Tesla sales in Europe are 29,273 units behind last year after the first three quarters. Q4 is also expected to be lower than last year’s Q4, which means the gap will likely grow even larger. Tesla Sales in Europe: • YTD 2023 = 272,019 • YTD 2024 = 242,746 • Difference = -29,273 units or -10.8% Sales in China, Asia-Pacific, and Canada are up and may barely make up for the drop in Europe this year, but unfortunately, U.S. sales are also down, even with the Cybertruck.

Q3 also is a low bar considering they were supply constrained in 2023 due to production line upgrades. “Higher deliveries” in China won’t make up for declining US/Europe sales (which are the most profitable and relevant). 2024 also is significantly impacted by much higher tax rate.

Tesla insured deliveries in 🇨🇳 last week were only 13.8K vs 13.5K the same week in 2023 when prices were 7% higher. Q3'23 also had the old Model 3 while now they're selling the new one at 0% interest for 5yrs. Q3 🇨🇳 deliveries may be +19% YoY but profits will be flat at best.

In China, 13.8k Tesla insurance registrations were reported for the week of September 16 to 22. 🇨🇳 The quarter is +19.9% QoQ, +18.5% YoY and +1.1% vs. 23Q4 the best quarter after 12 weeks. YTD is at +2.0% YoY.
