America cannot strengthen energy independence while undermining the facilities that produce it. We urge Congress to correct course and reform the Renewable Fuel Standard so that mandates reflect actual market conditions, protect American jobs, and prevent further damage to the nation’s fuel supply.”

Today, the Fueling American Jobs Coalition, which represents union workers and America’s independent oil refiners, issued the following statement following the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) release of new Renewable Volume Obligation (RVO) numbers for 2026 and 2027.

Breaking: Rep. Dusty Johnson admits it was never just about year-round E15. “If farm country only wanted E15, we could have it tomorrow.” The real goal is higher ethanol mandates, which will drive up compliance costs, crush mid-size refiners, and raise prices at the pump.

The administration should also adjust @EPA's draft ethanol mandates for 2026 and 2027 to match actual consumption and prevent the reallocation of exempted SRE volumes. These reforms would stabilize costly #RIN prices and lower the cost of refining fuel.

This can be done without impacting any biofuel consumption by simply lowering the ethanol mandate to match actual consumption and leaving advanced biofuel mandates alone.

RIN prices are rising, and today's five-year high is only the start if the looming 2026-27 15B gallon ethanol mandate passes. The market is sending a clear signal. Without RFS reform, this unachievable mandate risks driving RIN prices to dangerous levels, threatening higher gasoline costs, American jobs, and U.S. energy security.

The draft E15 framework ignores long-standing problems with the Renewable Fuel Standard and tilts the playing field toward the world’s largest oil and renewable fuels companies, threatening higher gas prices and thousands of small and independent refinery jobs.

Last week, a coalition of small and independent refiners, representing 27 facilities and more than 2 million barrels/day of America’s domestic refining capacity, sent a letter to the Rural Domestic Energy Council collectively opposing the latest E15 proposal.
