Ex-World Bank president slams one African country's borrowing strategy, warns it could backfire Former World Bank President David Malpass warned that Nigeria's🇳🇬 strategy of pledging national assets to secure loans could backfire. He warned that this approach makes it much harder for the country to restructure its debt if a financial crisis hits. Nigeria🇳🇬 recently borrowed $1.5 billion with national assets as collateral, securing fast cash but increasing transparency risks.

“Repayment begins two years after completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) (or exemption). • 10% of salary is deducted at source by the employer (or 10% of monthly profit for the self-employed). • Early/voluntary repayment is allowed. • Extensions possible via affidavit if unemployed; loan may be written off in cases of death or severe permanent disability.”nelf.gov.ng You people keep trying to defend rubbish every single time. It’s all there on their website but No because your are APC you must stupidly defend nonsense.
Wale Adedayo 🌍🔰@Mario9jaa

There is a deliberate attempt by these paid lots to discredit NELFUND through deliberate misinformation simply because it has become a self-marketing success. Notice the pattern. It is a gig from the camp that we all know and you will see more soon Both idiots have blocked me.

In 1975, Nigeria built Okomu Oil: a massive, state-funded agricultural manufacturing giant spanning over 15,000+ hectares of fertile land in Edo State. It was erected as a state-owned industrial powerhouse, fully equipped with modern power turbines, advanced palm oil processing mills, paved road networks, storage facilities, and fully built staff housing estates, meticulously designed to print money for the national treasury. In the 1980s, the global crude oil market crashed, and the Nigerian military government under General Ibrahim Babangida panicked and ran straight to the World Bank and the IMF for emergency loans. The bailout was provided to Nigeria, but it came with devastating, non-negotiable Structural Adjustment Programmes (SAP) which strictly mandated Nigeria to aggressively privatize, dismantle, and sell off over 100 state-owned enterprises. In 1990, Nigeria formally auctioned off Okomu Oil Palm to Western corporate oligarchs for pennies on the dollar. Today, Okomu Oil Palm Plc operates as a literal money-printing machine listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), generating tens of billions of Naira in clear net profits every single year from Nigerian soil, Nigerian sunshine, and cheap Nigerian labor. But the vast majority of those massive, astronomical dividend payouts are wired straight out of Nigeria into a corporate bank account in Luxembourg.

1. Repeat after me: The South-East cannot have a seaport because God didn't give that region a sea, and their ancestors didn't expand toward the sea. 2. The South-East has the following: • 5 governors • 122+ House of Assembly members • 15 senators • 43 members of the House of Representatives That is 185+ elected officials (apart from local government chairmen), yet you cry about what the President should do for you. At what point do you begin to ask your other elected officials to do their job just as the President is doing his job? 3. The things you are bickering about and asking the President for are what other state governors and regional development commissions are doing. Stop disturbing the country with cries of victimhood.
AMB. SERAH IBRAHIM@TheSerahIbrahim

Why should a government prefer deceit rather than implement projects for its people? Tell that man to come out from his solar powered bunker and do his job. The South East has been highly marginalised by this government. From the lack of erosion projects in communities in Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu where homes, roads, and farmlands are consistently lost, to the lack of stable electricity for industrial hubs, to the deeply concerning situation of no Seaport or Deep Sea Port in the entire region which has the most business operators, to the Eastern railway completion. So many projects ignored. Tinubu @officialABAT please come out from your bunker and do your job.

Abu, I already blocked the guy. However, he’s a successful person who lived in the U.S. for years, so he can obviously afford to educate his kids wherever he believes they’ll get the best education. Take Peter Obi, for example. A few days ago, he spoke about renovating facilities—including clearing the overgrown grounds—at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. Yet all of his children studied abroad. Your principal, who often talks about improving education in his state, but didn’t send his own children to school there. Do I blame either of them? No. If you’re wealthy and can afford better opportunities for your children, most parents would make that choice.

IN CASE YOU MISSED THIS... Ayodele Oke was accused in connection with the 2017 Ikoyi cash scandal involving $43.4 million. The EFCC charged him, but the case was withdrawn and struck out in 2023. Despite the controversy, Tinubu appointed him Nigeria's ambassador to France.

Tinubu's instinct isn't to create needless committee. It's to dissolve one. Instead of expanding bureaucracy, he prefers returning duties to the constitutional authorities meant to handle them in the first place.
