I learned today from @JBSchweitzer that the original Ethereum logo was created and adopted through an open contest run shortly after the presale in February 2014. This is how Ethereum has always been built: through open contributions and the voice & enthusiasm of the community running with them. Like it or not, Ethereum is not a single entity. It's not run by a single person and does not adhere to a single vision. It is collectively created. The outpouring of enthusiasm to create that has come about as part of this contest shows me just how much pent-up passion there is for this project, even when prices are stagnant and sentiment is down. In Ethereum, you don't need permission. You can just build, design, create. But all work needs funding. That is why it has been so inspiring to me to see leaders - and even competitors - come together to fund a prize pool for this competition. @arbitrum, @Optimism, & @0xPolygon may duke it out for developers - but they are all Ethereum. @AcrossProtocol & @LayerZero_Core may take totally different approaches to interop - but they are both Ethereum. And they are joined by other leaders in based sequencing, cross-chain infra, NFTs, public goods funding, DeFi: @Spire_Labs, @EspressoSys, @MeebitsNFTs, @OctantApp, @UniswapFND. Together, we are all Ethereum.
