A Fresh Start Without exaggeration, the last few years have been some of the most demanding, difficult, painful, and exhausting of my life. Many of the trials deal with my son and his health, but talking through everything that happened that first year he was born and shortly before it sounds like pure fiction (if you know, you know). Needless to say, my creativity and work cratered as I tried to keep up with everything. Thankfully, by the grace of God, everything is far better now and I'm starting to get my feet back under me. This animation felt like a good way to begin again. I feel like everyone gets bogged down and overloaded at times by the piles of back-logged responsibilities, expectations, tasks, etc. that gathers over time, and rather than try to dig out, the best thing can be to just start fresh and go from there. Thanks to everyone who follows me, and to those who have been there for me and my family especially. I also wanted to apologize if you've reached out to me and I haven't gotten back to you or have been slow to do so. The weight of everything took a huge toll on my communication, but I'm doing my best to catch up with everyone. Happy and excited to get back into it, and hope you enjoy this as much as I did creating it!

@FullHarbor Extremely important lesson. Sounds trivial at first but it’s not. On both project and career scale, you won’t get to do only the stuff you like. Finding fun helps you elevate a meh project into a great one. Boosting your creativity, portfolio and opportunities.

"Find the fun." How important does this feel to you in your career?

Or said another way... when you find yourself not having fun... does that have a negative impact? Or are you just cool doing work and not having fun?

Super random, but... I copied (by eye, not tracing) this @Japanesehouse album cover in Illustrator. And I was just looking at the tiny version on my tv 😅 Fun exercise. Also... such a goddamn good album.

Current #Project200k update. Invoice total: $162,949 Avg per month: $20,368 Left to hit goal: $37,051 8 months down 4 to go I’ve outsourced less than $2k. But I’ve passed on a lot and sent to my network.

@SamWelkerTV But for the most part, I'm doing about 6-10 hour days.

@SamWelkerTV Here's a look at hours worked per month. May was truly out of control. I worked something like 27 days that month. And some days were 13-17 hours for about a week+. That was purely a problem of client feedback and a huge team putting in lots of hours.
