@GlorifiedDonkey I’d ruin it and sneak my gap wedge on my walk and play a few approach shots into the road hole for sure.

The Old Course at St Andrews is closed on a Sunday! It becomes a large green park for locals and holiday makers to take a walk! Thoughts? #homeofgolf #standrews

@Therichardralph There used to be a rule about the max cash you can hold in an S&S ISA but think that’s now gone, simply reintroduce the limit - problem solved

Call me mad. But I think Rachel reeves plan to tax cash held in S&S ISA is a good idea. The benefit to the UK of the S&S ISA is that money flows into business pushing up the value of the UK economy. Especially if as expected the majority of risk adverse Brits will go for FTSE ETFs.

@owenjonesjourno The problem you face though is that the city centre isn’t equipped to cope with the numbers. The number of Drs surgeries hasn’t increased, infrastructure out of Manchester remains poor, the money spent on Regent Road/Chester roundabout has made zero positive impact

That’s exactly what has happened. Lots of luxury flats have been built in central Manchester. So there are more richer people living there. Meanwhile poorer people have been forced to outer areas.
Taj Ali@Taj_Ali1

I went through this report. Overall deprivation in Greater Manchester remains unchanged. To what extent has the decline in inner-city deprivation been a result of poor people being pushed out of the inner-city as the wealthy move in?

@owenjonesjourno Total nonsense. Which is obvious to anyone who knows Manchester. These new build flats were all on empty land where no one was living. Loads of young professionals haven't moved into Collyhurst and kicked out the residents. Putting your london lens onto Manchester. Lazy.

@broseph_stalin How would you propose those areas that rely on tourism and people owning 2nd houses as holiday lets? Some areas rely on tourism to exist, take this away and these areas die

@PolitlcsUK Kemi telling someone to get on and do there job is a stretch after what the Tories did for 14 years and Labour elected with a huge majority to clean up the mess only for Starmer and Reeves to make it worse. Streeting is one of the few getting on with his brief unlike some.

@Bcfc1875123 @PolitlcsUK Whilst they had 14 years, Labour had the same time in opposition to come up with credible policies for when they got into Government - I have no idea what these now are as there have been so many u turns it’s not true

BREAKING 🚨 The tax expert who broke the Polanski Boat Tax Story admits he wasn’t even aware of the situation surrounding Marina boat tax until he started exploring it. It turns out only one resident in 35 years have ever paid council tax on the Marina! Pretty quick to blame Zack though wasn’t he…

@paulmasonnews There is also the technical point that for mature DB pensions or this that have bought out, there is an incentive to own ‘private assets’ over gilts as there are Solvency II benefits on how they are accounted

@Trout737 @paulmasonnews So you’d be happy for sterling to fall pushing up prices of anything that is imported? As for the FTSE, anyone with a workplace pension would suffer if it fell and remained low for a sustained period of time. Having said that pension schemes only allocate about 4% to U.K. equity

@paulmasonnews There are more important things in our society than bond markets or the ftse. This is a kind fetishism which harms our society. IMHO of course.

NEW🚨| The big four banks made £13.8 billion in first quarter of 2026. In 2023 the Conservatives cut the bank surcharge tax from 8% to 3%. Restoring it to 8% would raise £9bn over four years. A 35% surcharge would raise £60bn. It's time for the banks to pay their share.

@TC_Survivalist @The_TUC Perhaps if they didn't "steal the money" first from customers with their extortionate interest charges you might have a case! Bank rate 3.5% - Credit Card interest 24.5% - £13bn profits! Greedy Capitalist SCUM? Perspective? 😉
